Well there are several types of IQ Tests, so it is depends which one 12th old as chosen.

general chart for interpreting IQ scores:

140+ Extraordinary intelligence
130-140 Very superior intelligence
120-130 Superior intelligence
110-120 High average intelligence
90-110 Average intelligence
80-90 Below average intelligence
70-80 Borderline deficiency
Below 70 Intellectually challenged

Originally, IQ was calculated as a ratio with the formula: 100 x mental age/chronological age

A 10-year-old who scored as high as the average 13-year-old, for example, would have an IQ of 130 (100*13/10).

A 12 year old's IQ should be over 100, that being said, I am 12 and I took a test and got a IQ of 135.

Hopefully 100 or more. Since IQ tests, such as the Wechsler come in the childrens version, they are applicable to what an average 12 year old knows and scored on that basis. Hope it helped.

Your IQ doesn't get higher as you get older or as you learn more. "IQ" is a measure of how you did on a test that tries to measure your capacity for certain kinds of learning. When I take IQ tests for fun nowadays, I get about the same score I did when I first took the test at 8 years old.

In any case, you shouldn't in any way worry about what your IQ is, or your child's. How you do in life has a lot lot lot more to do with how hard you work, how interested you are in the world around you, and I suppose a certain amount of luck, than how you do on any one test. My IQ is pretty high, as is many of my friends, and we all succeeded or failed in very different ways, believe me.

Plus, IQ measures only certain kinds of capacities and leaves many other important ones untouched.

Why do you need to know? What are your worrying about? Can we help with that problem instead?

Good luck.

IQ doesn't change depending on your age. Around 100 is the average if you're 12 or 50.
(I took the test when I was 10 and it was 135, and again when I was 25 and it was 132....)

My IQ is about 130 because I just took a school test to determine if I would be in the gifted program (I just made it), but most of my friends had an IQ of about 100-110. Hope that helps :)

There is no "should". It is not based on age and does not vary much as you grow older. The average IQ is defined as 100. Over 135 or so is genius.
