Purchased a computer from www.Electroforless.com and paid by western union moneygram as required by the company(scammers I know now!). Website is still up. Should I notify police, news etc. ? Now that I'm sure what 's going on is there a way to help stop these kind of people from luring in others like myself, who fall victim to this sort of thing?Any advice on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

The quickest revenge you could do is to bring their sites down, since they are hosted by a web hosting company. Actually, this has been a long-running scam. They just keep on changing domain names from time to time.

According to http://whois.domaintools.com/203.223.150.98, the email to report abuse is abuse@aims.com.my. I reported the scam to them weeks ago. In spite of all the evidences I provided, they decided to be on the side of their criminal patron. If they had taken a different stand, you would not have been scammed.

I read from somewhere that if a web hosting company was reported of hosting scam sites and refused to take it down, the victims after that could potentially sue the web hosting company. Drop me a mail if you need more information.

Of course, you should complain to Yahoo for putting on scam shops in their merchant directory. I have been tracing this scam since June with at least 4 different names. Yahoo put on all the versions of it. This one, electroforless.com, it has been on and off for at least 3 times, always comes back with a little change in the store name such as an extra space. I don't understand why Yahoo just can't ban a scam store based on domain name. But on the other hand, maybe Yahoo only cares about getting the revenue from their patron, regardless the patron is a fraud or not.

Unfortunately these companies often are based out of country, in places liek Nigeria or China so there is probably little you can do, but I would call yoru local authorities anyway and it wouldn't hurt to notify the FBI, they deal a great amount in fraud and extortion and sometimes they can bring out of country crooks to justice (not always though).

Craig's List suggest the following:

Who should I notify about fraud or scam attempts?
FTC toll free hotline: 877-FTC-HELP (877-382-4357)
FTC online complaint form (www.ftc.gov)
Canadian PhoneBusters hotline: 888-495-8501
Internet Fraud Complaint Center (www.ic3.gov/)
Non-emergency number for your local police department.

Good luck.

Your local police department will be able to help. Also check your local news stations. They should have someone who is willing to get the word out.
