Expose the cat to water early and it won't be AS difficult to bathe it. Cats do NOT like to be bathed and will stay away from you if it knows that the bath is coming!!

What none of us answers know is how feisty your cat is and what your relationship is with it. To give the best answer one would have to know.
However, here are a few guidelines.
Be gentle and as gentle as can be.
Use a sink, not a tub. Not so much water and much easier for you to control the action.
Make sure the water is LUKE warm, not hot or cool.
Lower the cat slowly, feet, legs, etc. if there is resistance, stop at that position for awhile.

While others answer cats don't need baths, that's not entirely true. While they do groom themselves, there are lots of parts of their body they can't reach by themselves.

if you have to use a dry shampoo, then do but before doing that, try using warm, damp clothes on the parts of their bodies they can't reach -- mostly backs.

I taught my cat to like water at an early age. I would put it in the bath about once a week and fill the water up to it's paws. When he became an adult it was a lot easier to bathe him then cats I had previously not water trained. However it depends on the cats personality as well, some kittys like water.

Also, it should be mentioned that it's not recommended to bathe cats on a regular basis. Hope I helped :D

Since cats are so good about grooming themselves they rarely need a bath. I would thing sedated by a vet or groomer would be the best way.

I feel Lynn (the man or woman with the flower and username Lynn) has a factor. The means you ask the query (the tone of your query) would be rubbing a few men and women the fallacious means and for this reason they reply in a procedure that you do not like. @ASL: I feel Teddy underneath me presents a few priceless recommendation. @Zebra: Just in view that men and women disagree with you does now not imply that they do not like the reality. Also you cannot propose that in view that anybody does now not like a special query or reply that they have got to be ungodly. I notice that men and women disagree with me or they hate me for a few rationale, however I do not check out to behave as though they hate in view that of what it says in two Timothy three:one million-five or different prophetic scriptures. You will also be sincere with out being obnoxious correctly that's referred to as being tactful. There is a well article on how one can be tactful within the BE e-book pages 197-201 (Study 33 - Tactful Yet Firm). One piece of recommendation: When you set phrases in citation marks it's used to indicate some thing as being false. So while you say that you simply talk "reality", with the citation marks across the phrase reality is similar to pronouncing that you simply talk lies. You might wish to take away the citation marks out of your reaction.

Expect to sustain some injury, but you can do it. If you can get a thermometer to check the temperature of the water, that might help. Cats have higher body temperatures than ours, and what feels like warm water to us feels like cold water to them. So you'll want to have the water a bit hotter than you'd want to if you were taking a bath yourself. We found that when we used water that felt just the tiniest bit uncomfortable to us when we stuck a hand into it, the cats were far calmer when immersed.

I forget what a cat's body temperature is, so you'll have to look it up. Then make the water temperature maybe ten degrees hotter. It'll probably take two of you to properly manipulate the unfortunate beast into the deadly brew, and he will howl pitifully and loudly. He'll also look like a dead rat, especially the tail: cats are constructed primarily of fluff and attitude, and they look just horrible when wet.

Use baby or pet shampoo on the wretched creature, rinse him out, and wrap a succession of towels around him, handing him off from one person to the other. One cat generally requires about four towels.

He'll run off and sulk, but he'll look beautiful afterwards. Then he'll forgive you. It's kind of fun: don't feel bad for him; cats are always dramatic.

Well to be honest, most to all cats HATE water. So I'd put on a sweatshirt and wash. Its for their own good. Sorry I wish I could help.

God Bless :P

good question. I'd like to know the answer, too, but i try to wrap rubber bands (or hair bands, since they are fabric covered) around her paws and be as gentle as i can.

Cats don't normally need baths, which is why they have rough tongues so they can clean themselves.
