I am currently in the NAVY DEP. I picked a job that I really do not care for and now I want to change it. Can I do it?

as logn as you are not in your final command then yes and even after you get in all you have to do is cross rate, but let your recruiter know ASAP so they can take you back to meps and make all the arrangements to get the paperwork fixed it is not impossible just stay on them becasue lets face it know one likes to do paperwork--DO NOT LEAVE FOR BOOT CAMP IF YOU DON'T HAVE WHAT YOU WANT ON YOUR DOCUMENTATION IT WILL NOT GET FIXED ONCE YOU GET THERE!!!!!!!!!!

You need to push your recruiter about this. It absolutely CAN be done. If he refuses, tell him you'll drop out of DEP (which is ALSO possible). That way, you're putting him in the position of helping you get the MOS you really want or losing the recruitment, which he doesn't want to do.

Another poster brought up a good point. For some MOS's, there is very limited space in the technical training schools. You need to meet with your recruiter ASAP to figure out whether there is room in that school and if you can get into it. Let him know that if you don't get that particular MOS, you're seriously considering leaving the DEP.

You are not "enlisted" until you swear in the SECOND TIME at MEPS. Until then, you're under the DEP... which is simply a showing of "intent" to formally and irrevocably enlist.

Before you go to all the trouble.. make SURE you're making a good choice about the MOS... Know what MOS's are available, and know your own strengths and weaknesses. If you go in saying, "Gosh, this one sounds like more fun," nobody's going to be too invested in helping you. But if you can go in saying, "I've taken an apptitude test and a career guidance class, and this other MOS would allow me to use my skills to greater benefit the Navy!" Much better likelihood of them helping you...

More than likely NO, but if it DOES happen, it'll happen at MEPs, so next time you go to your monthly training/workout/etc.. (or tomorrow) get with your recruiter and let him know. If he says "No!" you can always ask for the "RIC" (Recruiter In Charge). Oh yeah, and bring your parents with you when you go. They play a big part in it as well. The RIC's boss is a district supervisor, which you can ask for when/if the RIC doesn't give you what you want.

you will need to put in a DAR, but there are no guarantees. First, you must actually qualify for the new rating you want, and secondly there must be an open slot in A school for you.
