I have heard the the Nelson Study Bible is good.

I just use the NIV version myself. I also have a Matthew Henry Commentary on the Bible. It is timeless.

The best bible study I was in was "Christian Believer." The group will meet about two hours a week and you study daily. I found out all I thought I knew was not all I knew, if you know what I mean. I learned a lot and very grateful. Some like the Disciple study.

For some other timeless daily devotionals, I love "Morning by Morning" by Charles Spurgeon. It is old but again, timeless and filled with nothing but pure love. Can't leave out C.S. Lewis, who once was a non believer, and then wrote some of the most beautiful books ever. During WW2 he had a radio show for members of the armed forces.

God Bless to you as well.

It all depends on what you are needing....

For a good study Bible, the Life Application Bible is great.

For one with daily devotions, I like the One Year Bible (only has scripture readings), The Men's Devotional Bible, and Joyce Meyer's "The Everday Bible".

Hope that helps!

I use the Life Application Study Bible.
New Living Translation for home reading and one of my study sources. I love it. Easy to understand, with details about the times the books were written, the history of what was going on during that time and the places written.
Very good choice.

A bible study that uses only the King James bible would be more likely to be free from the corruption found in those which use new, modern versions, because devotionals are ways to teach doctrine, whether true or false.

Study with discernment. Bible studies that make you feel good about yourself are a type of literature which teaches falsehood.

edit:

Sorry, I thought you asked for a bible study.

A bible shouldn't have any notes in it. The most extraneous material it should have in it is that which is found in The Defined King James Bible.

The Inductive Study Bible, preferably in the NIV or NASB translation. It encourages you to take notes, (inside the Bible itself), and has great reference Scriptures and footnotes from great Biblical scholars. I was able to actually create outlines of several books, so that, at a glance, I could see the theme and content of each book I had studied. It's fantastic, and you get so much more out of it than if you were just reading!

I use the Archeological Study Bible, which is also NIV and find it to be a WONDERFUL learning tool! It comes with software, maps, pictures of archeological digs, pictures of antiquities that have been found, etc.

Fascinating!
