Just pray to God. The Bible wants us to renew our mind by filling it with God's words, not clearing or emptying our mind. Thus, Read and pray instead of clearing and meditating. There's a new trend, not really new but old pagan way, of having Christians do contemplative prayers. I suggest that you don't get into mantras or some kind of Pagan rituals of repeating words, but keep the prayers simple from the heart.

Just keep praying to God in earnest and after few hours sometimes, then you'll really being to pray. Sometimes spend the night in prayer until you're cold with sweat on your clothes. Keep reading the Psalms cause it always ends up in a joyful note after a heartache. Pray for your pastor, elders, deacons, missionaries, etc.
But most of all pray for God's will be done and his name be glorified everywhere and for all people will come to obey him. Pray for your life to conform to the image of God and to be one that is pleasing to Him. Pray that it is all for His glory no matter what happens to you, whether it prospers you or not. Pray that the banner of his name be planted in every soul that you meet, and that you will demonstrate His goodness in your life for all to see and say that here truly is a slave of Christ, not for my pride but for Him. Pray for repentance from bad works and good works. etc etc. So much to pray for.

Set aside a regular time each day (for me, mornings before I go to work is best).

Find a very quiet place free from all distractions (family, TV, pets, etc.)

Close your eyes, take three deep breaths and quietly but aloud ask God to help clear your mind and stay focused on Him.

Do it every day consistently. Some days you will be more focused than others. Don't be discouraged. Just be sincere and open to God's word or whatever He has to reveal to you each day.

Good luck, brother!

In this hectic day to day pace, it can easily happen. Ask the Lord for greater personal discipline in your life. Praise him for three things he has done for you. Ask for forgiveness in any transgression against anyone you have met or will meet that day. Present your concerns and struggles of the day. Either before you pray, or after read a bible verse. Isaiah 40:31 comes to my mind or any other you like. Ask him to open your eyes to anyone you will meet today who needs his loving touch(for you a smile to somene , listening etc.) God bless you and it's a great question we all struggle with.

I would consider looking to Creation as also God's word manifest. Enjoying God's gifts of natural beauty can be a lovely prayer and communion all by itself.

go to a private quiet place and Ask Jesus to help you pray, The Holy Spirit will guide and inspire you. Read the Bible for inspiration and meditation, such as the Psalms. God bless!

You need to meditate on His Word. I recommend you start in the Psalms. One real simple method is to read until a verse hits you, catches your attention. Stop right there and don't move on. Read the verse again. Then read it emphasizing the first word in the sentence. Then read it again emphasizing the second word in the sentence, then the third, and so on. Think about it. Let it soak in. Talk to the Lord about it. Then when it seems time to move on, move on.

If you can find it, there is a book out from an esteemed Christian woman of the late 1600's called Madame Jeanne Guyon, called "Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ". I think it was recently republished through an author named Gene Edwards. It might be of help to you.
