No I wouldn't. Private business is exactly that.. private. If they want their phones answered in Mandarin or German it is no business of mine. If I don't like it I don't have to be a patron. My political affiliation is Democrat.

Political affiliation: libertarian leaner, registered as a Democrat because I never bothered to change it since I became enlightened

I would absolutely not support any such an intrusion into how companies run their businesses. Additionally, do you know what the result would be? More companies would move their call centers overseas, to countries that don't have this rule.

I do think it would be good business for companies to use a separate phone number for Spanish and other foreign language call centers, but no way should the government be allowed to mandate that.

As much as I hate having to press "1" for English...I would not support that kind of legislation. It is the business' right to determine how best to serve its customers and the government should not be allowed to interfere. I would support legislation that requires the government to remove the "press 1 for English" from its phone system.

Conservative Republican.

no. Though i like the concept of the idea, I do not think this is something that should be enforced at a government level, I think that this is something that should be enforced at a private business level. As the poster above said, I have no problem enforcing this at a government level

i am registered republican though my ideals are more paleoconservative/libertarian

No, and personally the having to press 1 for English issue does not bother me but not being able to reach a human being does.

I am an independent, I vote for the person not the party.

No, of course not. Businesses can do as they wish. They are, in fact, in business to make money. If they make more money by retaining customers that speak other than English, then, so be it..

Democrat- although I believe that the government has way too much control over our daily lives, so, I may be independent.... LOL

No.

But I might support a law requiring workers to speak English, as Mexico has, since as it is our kids aren't brought up bilingual and face discrimination in employment and advancement against kids of foreigners who we pay to educate to be bilingual. Used to be I wouldn't have supported that either, but I have heard too many stories about how our own less educated folks are forced out or faced with a language ceiling because their coworkers can't speak English, yet as a realistic matter, those less educated of our own people are given no opportunity in our schools to BECOME bilingual.
