My 5 months old cat got spayed on aug 22. a wed, the following Monday her stitch had open so i brought her back and they closed her up with 6 stitches and sent her home with one of those cones on her head and some anti- biotics. They never told me how long she would have to wear it and there phone is constantly busy. Any ideas on how long she will have to wear this she is on anti-biotics for a week if that helps.
thanks

Does she have the stiches on the outside that need to be removed? If so..the cone needs to stay on until the remove them. They usually stay in for 10-14 days after the surgery.

10 days she will have to wear it. If she is still licking the stiches after 10 days, leave it on till they dissolve, or come out.

Leave it on for 10 days. If there are sutures in the skin, they will not dissolve on their own--take her back to have them removed.

call your vet and ask them if you can take it off but check your cats neck to make sure the cone didnt cut her skin and ask them if you can take it off
