Dabbing the paint or rolling it on?
and what is the difference?

dabbing (also called pouncing) is the recommended method ....... the reason why is you'll have more control of the color to not seep under the plastic. you can buy a few stencil pouncers so you don't have to wash and dry everytime if you only buy 1. they are very inexpensive. artist supply stores usually sell them but you might also be able to purchase elsewhere

A stenciled design is more professional looking if you use the pouncing method. The less paint you use the better. You want the stencil to look hand-painted, and the pouncing method allows you to control the depth of color so that your design doesn't just appear flat and one dimensional.

Why not try it and see you decide i mean if your creative you will do the dabbing if your in a hurry well lets just say "Patience is a virtue" even with rollin it on!

dabbing gives a stippled effect and is good for small areas. You have much more control and can use and blend different colours.
