Yes sir, all the time with my boresnakes. It really gets your gun bores detail clean. just put some of it on the floss part directly behind the bristles on the bore snake and run the bore snake through the gun barrel. It does three steps in one pass.

I haven't tried it yet although I have considered trying it a few times. Hoppes is the standard in my family. I use two things, Hoppes No. 9 solvent for cleaning the bore then I use Rem-Oil to clean, oil and lube everything else.... cosmoline in your bolt? Spray in some Rem-Oil. Touched the barrel so you need to oil it? Rem-Oil. Need to oil the bore once it is clean? Rem-Oil. Lost your WD-40 and need something to oil the hinges on your door? Rem-Oil will do that too, If you only get to choose one thing to clean your gun with, Rem-Oil is the best all around thing. Hoppes is better to clean the bore but Rem-Oil cleaned and protects everything else.... Hoppes makes good stuff but I think they might be watering their stuff down more these days. My dad has some Hoppes9 that has been in his closet for 30 years, it is far more potent than current production No.9. The only "elite" product I have tried is their regular old cleaner and I was very disappointed, the stuff is soapy water. It doesn't clean well and it costs more than decent stuff.

I've used Hoppe's "Elite" Gel and I liked the consistency of the Gel itself, but to be honest I wasn't impressed with it's cleaning ability. I have tried samples of about every bore cleaner made, since I have a Gun Shop, and I'm constantly getting free samples to try. My personal favorite is "Shooters Choice" brand over Hoppe's. The Shooters Choice removes considerably more Copper, Lead and powder residue and fouling than any other product I have tried in the last 20+ years
I use it personally in my custom long range Remington 700 "Custom" Competition Rifles and would swear by it. It's not as thick as the Hoppe's Gel, but it has a syrupy consistency, that is just as effective.
I have also heard thru others that the Hoppe's Gel has a tendency to "soften" custom stock finishes if it is accidentally spilled

It is the only thing I use on my 1911. It is awesome.... Very little mess and cleans easy. I actually use all hoppe's elite products on all my firearms.
