Umm.. It has nothing to do with your "safety" or a drivers license. Its an under handed scheme to get people used to having a National ID card, and creating a huge database of biometric data on everyday folks. Not just the criminals anymore. Be cautious of it. Avoid it if you can. Dont put your ssn on your drivers license either. For your "safety." Thats a private number not an identification tag to be used by everyone.
