I know that every answer will be speculation because we cannot be sure, but I am curious as to what others think Leviathan was.

"Let those who curse days curse that day. Let them prepare to wake up the sea monster Leviathan" (Job 3:8 NCV)

"God, you have been our king for a long time. You bring salvation to the earth. You split open the sea by your power and broke the heads of the sea monster. You smashed the heads of the monster Leviathan and gave him to the desert creatures as food." (Psalms 74:12-14 NCV)

"Lord, you have made many things; with your wisdom you made them all. The earth is full of your riches. Look at the sea, so big and wide, with creatures large and small that cannot be counted. Ships travel over the ocean, and there is the sea monster Leviathan, which you made to play there." (Psalms 104:24 - 26 NCV)

"Can you catch the leviathann on afish hook or tie its tongue down with a rope? Can you put a cord through its nose or a hook in its jaw? Will it keep begging you for mercy and speak to you with gentle words? Will it make an agreement with you and let you take it as your slave for life? Can you make a pet of the leviathan as you would a bird or put it on a leash for your girls? Will traders try to bargain with you for it? Will they divide it up among the merchants? Can you stick darts all over its skin or fill its head with fishing spears? If you put one hand on it, you will never forget the battle, and you will never do it again! There is no hope of defeating it; just seeing it overwhelms people. No one is brave enough to make it angry, so who would be able to stand up against me?" (Job 41:1 - 10 NCV)

"At that time the Lord will punish Leviathan, the gliding snake. He will punish Leviathan, the coiled snake, with his great and hard and powerful sword. He will kill the monster in the sea." (Isaiah 27:1 NCV)

What is Leviathan?

Satan - the serpent.

Isaiah 27:1
In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea.

The symbology is esoteric for most.

There are multiple levels of meaning. Take on surface or otherwise for what many verses mean.

Leviathan is not a croc - Crocs do not live in the deep sea. Nor do they have more than one head (false religions).

well, there's just nothing to be speculating on....where ever you see Leviathan in the word of God(old testament)....is a shadow of who the devil is,what he will do or be.....and most important of all, what will happen to him.....so leviathan is SATAN
