I wonder why only 17 miles, of the WRONG sort of fence have been built when $800 million of funding remains in the secure fence act passed just before the 2006 elections?

I'm for it. I don't think it is a panacea, and I'd like to help those on the river find a different PASSIVE physical barrier (dredging maybe?) because ICE doesn't get all the illegals it gets reported to it now, so why would cameras help? But I am majorly in favor of the fence as a starting point.

Obviously, we need the visa exit tracking program, interior enforcement and denial of benefits, as well, however.

The communist have away of forcibly keeping their people in. Mexico has a wall to keep their southern borders secure. Mexicans men marry women and have more children with them than they can care for. Most keep their "boyfriends" too. They come and go across our porous southern borders spreading disease. Mexicans are still angry at Americans for stealing their land, so they send their losers north to re-inhabit their lost territories. Washington retaliates by sending them our jobs. Now Obama wants to, literally, give away the farm. His immigration policies reflect just that. Most Mexican immigrants are failures in their home countries, because they are lazy and look for the easy way. Their homelands are filled with factory jobs that had once been held by Americans on US soil. They enter the US illegally, because entering the US legally requires some effort and they want the easy way. They don't value education and, consequently, neither do their children. Many look to crime instead of work that requires education and training. After all. they're looking for the easy way. Now Obama wants to pave the easy way for these people by giving them a free ride.

What wall? They haven't built any of it. I'm for it but by the time it is built, Mexico will be empty of people and we'll have to tear it back down.

By the way, I'm not only all for building the wall, but I'm also for throwing every illegal alien out of this country regardless of where they came from. I also support a bill that would throw every government official who supports illegal immigration out of office and out of this country. That includes Federal, State and Local officials, no exceptions.

I support it 100%.

The wall has partially been constructed on the Tijuana/San Diego border, and it stopped immigration cold. It also stopped crime, drug trafficking gangs and murders (if you can't keep illegals from crossing, you also can't stop criminals from hiding in the desert to rob, rape and muder them. But the security fence in San Diego has eliminated all that)

The fence in San Diego has driven illegals to New Mexico to cross. And once a double-fence is set up along the entire border, it will make illegal crossing very difficult. And stop crime related to illegals on BOTH sides of the border.

But a fence alone will not stop illegal immigration problem. These other steps need to be taken, along with a security fence:

1) A ten-year moratorium, reducing all legal immigration to the level JFK favored in 1958 (between 150,000 and 250,000 legal immigrants per year).

2) A federally legislated end to all social welfare benefits for illegal aliens, except for emergency medical services.

3) A crackdown on major businesses that chronically hire illegal aliens. And the elimination of deductibility for all wages paid to illegals.

4) A U.S. law to restate the true meaning of the 14th Amendment, and denial of automatic citizenship to “anchor babies” born to illegal aliens. Citizenship for children should be limited to those of mothers who are legally in the United States.

5) A halt to “chain migration” by allowing immigrants to bring in only wives and non-adult children.

6) An end to “dual citizenship” in United States, and requiring true assimilation.

7) An Eisenhower-type deportation (as was implemented in the 1950s, that unapologetically expelled 1 million Mexican illegals already in the U.S.) beginning with all aliens convicted of felonies and every gang member who is not a citizen of the United States.

Yes, we desperately need the wall built. We simply cannot just keep letting the illegals cross over. I am so tired of illegal immigrants dragging this country down.

Should have been done many years ago,but the businesses in this country have pressure the politicians not to do anything, election time is coming and they are pretending to do something by building a fence, once elections are over, the fence will be forgotten, our job as voters is to vote out the politicians that were for that insane immigration bill

I think it's fine, as long as they man it as they should and don't just stand around and watch people climb the fence.

Enforce the law and turn them back.

You can bet this administration will stall as long as possible so as not to interfere with the "grand plan", the North American Union. Part 1 has already begun. (Trucks across the border).

I think they should build it to the heavens. They need to do something drastic to keep illegals from comming into the US. I think that the wall would be very effective. I say go for it, and see how many illegals we have then..

I support it, and I support other border security measures, including more border patrol agents, and a no-release program, illegal aliens need to be deported when they are taken into custody.
I support all local law enforcement agencies to work in conjunction with ICE, to assist our federal agencies in apprehending illegal aliens for deportation.

In some places I support it but I really think it needs to be more than a wall to make our borders truly secure.
