Actually had to look up that one. All the time. From 7th to my senior year of Highschool. Actually, my senior year was probably one of the best/worst years. At the beginning I was the opposite of ostracized then after I fell in love for the first time and I got my heart smashed thats when people started ostracizing me. Life is funny :-P

Funny thing is, no. I used to feel that way all through high school, but once I graduated, I realized it wasn't other people, it was me. I wasn't being myself and was crushed by the thought that I wasn't like others, which in turn made me feel like super-ugly garbage with zero confidence. Now that I've been out of school for seven years, I can see where I was falling short and where the more popular people were actually very nice to me. It was hard to admit that at first.

The reason that the proverbial "straight and narrow path" is so narrow is because few people try to walk the more difficult path. When everyone walks that path, it becomes wider as it is more widely used.

As much as I wish that everyone (myself included) could celebrate when someone stands up for their own conscience or their own dreams, we tend to look down on those who don't join us in our viewpoints.

So, ultimately, we need to feel comfortable in the fact that we are not all alike and to welcome those who cannot accept the status quo.

So, do I ever feel ostracized? All the time!! Because sometimes being yourself means standing up for what you believe, even if that belief goes directly against what others believe.

Yes, lots of times. First, refusing my mother's help for reaching the true information. Then, being among my peers, having different interests and so on. I wondered why you asked this, the have always been misfits anywhere...

When I was a kid, I felt that way a lot. But then I learned to stop caring so much about the opinions of the herd. =)

I used to when I was younger, at school. This is very common for those with autistic spectrum disorders.

Yes, most people feel ostracised at school, but this also followed me to my first few jobs too.
