People have busy lives, so I would say within 2-3 months. Or you could take them out to dinner and pay if it is easier. Just remember, it is about having fun and relaxing, so do something fun for all of you.

First, call them and let them know how pleased you were at being invited for dinner. Before ending your conversation, let them know that you'd like to have them over for dinner and suggest a day and time. Or, just drop them a nice note stating that you'd like them to come for dinner soon and you'll be calling to set up a time and date.

There should be no expectation of reciprocation. Have them over if you'd like, at a time that's convenient for you.

I dont think it needs to be the very next night....but I do think within the following month you should definitely invite them over. Whether they accept or decline is up to them. I would attempt to invite them within the next week. After two attempts, I would just forget it.

You don't. It would be nice to show up to the dinner you were invited to with fresh cut flowers, a bottle of wine or a dessert. Even if you don't, a nice note of thanks stating how much you enjoyed the event would suffice. You don't have to invite the people back to your house.

Technically, you don't.
Inviting someone to your home for a meal does not mean they automatically have to reciprocate.
You could 'go out' for supper.
I've had people over for suppers and they haven't asked me to their place... I don't mind. If it really bothered me, I'd stop inviting them.
