Actually 2 minutes is fine. You may want to invest in an electric toothbrush. Some peoples bodies produce plaque faster than others, you may be one of them. An electric toothbrush will help keep the plaque off longer therefor reducing the amount of tartar. Also you should be getting regular cleanings at your dentist office. Try an Oral B triumph, it has a timer too and tells you when your 2 minutes is up.

Well, actually you would have less of a problem, but not eliminate it totally, if you did not eat or drink, but that is not practical. I think tartar is caused by viruses, as it has been shown recently. Maybe you could look into it. Diet may also have something to do with it. Some foods are better on the teeth then others. Do research. Dental health is linked to other medical problems as well. Good luck.

Stop smoking!

Whatever you smoke, you increase saliva secretion.
Presence of saliva is one of the responsible factors for accumulation of these calcified deposits that you can't completely prevent from forming.
Although toothbrushing and flossing are necessary, tartar should be removed by your dentist twice per year.
Make sure that he/she polishes your teeth at the end of the cleaning.

not all dirt are can be removed by proper toothbrushing and flossing alone. a regular oral prophylaxis to ur dentist is very important.regarding to the span of how many minutes u should brush. still depends on ur toothpaste. if ur using a non fluoride type,2 minutes of proper brushing is enough. remember. it should be proper brushing. but if u are using a type with fluoride, u should do it atleast 5 min. bec. ur tooth enamel are supposed to absorb the fluoride content of ur toothpaste.
