or is there a better process to get curly hair, maybe just do rollers everyday?

I just got a perm yesterday. You have to tell them exactly what you want..or atleast make sure they understand english..the lady who gave me my perm gave my short waves instead of long ones. -- okay, back on track sorry. Rollers everyday is not only annoying but complex in the morning. When you undo the roller it ALWAYS ends up too curled or the roller comes off while you're sleeping.. ANNNNND curling irons every day damage ur hair MORE. Because it burns ur hair and it gets all frizzy (trust me, i know)...PLUUUSS they wash the chemicals after they've done ur perm

Question is, do you prefer your hair curly or straight everyday? If you would rather have curly hair, I would recommend getting a perm with white and purple rods for body. This perm is also easy to straighten out if you want to wear it straight for the day and also hads extra body to straight hair. Also take in consideration that if your hair is colored with color not bleach that the timing for the solution should be any where from3-10 minutes as the hair is already porous. If you have bleach on your hair or have colored over bleached hair, you do NOT want a perm. Your hair will start breaking off if you do. I have as a stylist had bleach with 20 volume on my hair and permed it and I hated the breakage that resulted in it. I ended up cutting my hair shorter to get it back to health. Although perms aren't really permanent, you don't want to hate the curliness and reverse the process with perm solution either because it is further damaging. If you want curls, I recommend the rollers. That way you can wear it straight or curly without the damage of the perm solution. Although I agree with the lady with natural curly hair for the most part, I disagree with the fact of her saying that it's untameable. With the right cut and products and having your stylist show you a couple of times how to move the curls to fit your face and manage them without the frizz, natural curly hair can be tameable. I have a lot of customers who have the same problem and I fix that problem.

Here is my experience, which I wrote a short story about:

Does anyone out there have any idea how difficult it is to be one of the blessed ones who are born with naturally curly hair? I do! It sucks!!! Why was I chosen to have these Shirley Temple banana curls? Now, I’m curious. Do you think hers were real? Or did they come from a bottle?
Despite the fact I had these precious curly locks as a child, my mother and grandmother decided when I was about 3 years old, that I needed a perm. Remember those horrible, awful-smelling Tony Perms from back in the fifties? Well, I got one!

Maybe Mom and Grandma just wanted to use me as a guinea pig to test this new product before using it on their own heads. Or, maybe they thought if I had this magical perm, then they wouldn’t have to deal with my unruly, wavy ringlets. Perhaps, they were just bored and wanted something to do. Who knows?

I never had the guts to ask either one of them why they subjected me to that embarrassing, horrific event. Now that both of them have graduated to “the other side”, I guess I’ll never know the answer.

Anyway, as I recall, after about six months my hair relaxed enough to the point where I looked halfway presentable. It had finally returned to its normal, curly state, minus the extra kinks!

I have no clue how it happened, but when I was in the fifth grade, my mother – God rest her soul – did it to me again! To make things even worse, she also cut my hair short. I mean short!!! I looked like a miniature Harpo Marx! You have no idea what I went through with the boys in my class. How much ridicule can a girl take? Thank goodness my hair grows fast! I swore I’d never let another permanent wave mixture anywhere near my head for the rest of my life after that ordeal!

If you’ve studied astrology at all, then you’re well aware of the importance of the lioness’s mane to her self-esteem. Without a long, gorgeous head of hair, us lions feel utterly naked! And yes, in case you haven’t figured it out, I am a Leo! Proud of it, too! However, I happen to be on the cusp between Leo and Cancer. Does that make me a confused Leo? Probably. Susceptible to cancer? I certainly hope not! I think I’ll stick with just being a confused, little lion.

Whatever it was that possessed me to once more chemically treat my hair to yet another perm, I don’t know. I sure did it, though. I was about thirty-something and curly hair was back in style…again. Curiously enough, this time I actually liked it! That is, I liked it after about two months when most of the chemicals had been washed out. Of course, the novelty of curly hair wore off again and the styles went back to bone-straight hair.

There’s one thing most people don’t understand about curly hair. It has a mind of its own! It doesn’t curl the way you want it to, especially in a way that’s flattering to your face! It needs a little help. Enter…the blow dryer. Now you’ve really done it! Curly hair plus blow dryers equals FRIZZ!!!!!

Quite frankly, and it took me a while to understand this, if you get the correct haircut, curly hair can actually be a blessing. Wash and wear hair! It’s the way to go!!
Uh, oh…I just read in the paper the other day that curly hair was making a comeback. It’s going to be in style again! Oh, dear…
Do I dare???

Still want a perm???????
