There's this stray cat that's been on my property quite some time. He's still wild(not with the other cats though) in a month I can get from 50 feet to 10 feet away from him before he runs off. Now I get 10 feet close to him and he won't run away. Any closer he runs off(he's larger than the other female cats so I'm guessing he's a male).

Here's the pictures of his intense stare. He'd just stare at you with this intense glare.

Here's some pics of him:

Why does he stare at you intensely(not with the camera)?

How to get him tamer?

The female cats are either spayed or sterile

Patience and food are the two things that work.

Do a special food call to him when you bring out any tidbits. Chicken skin, leftover meat, anything that's less than a quarter cup of food but not the norm he usually gets. Set it down and back away, let him get used to that and back away less and less as you go. Eventually if you spend enough time with him he'll trust you because he knows your routine and you'll be 'safe'.

Basically you need to build up trust with him. It will take some time if you are patient and calm.
Strays are always looking for a handout, get some cat food that has a strong smell to it. I recommend tuna fish, put a small amount in a dish about 15-20 feet away. Sit quietly and let him go to the food and eat it. If hes not that skiddish you can try talking to him in a calm quiet manner.
Everyday, move the food a little closer, if he seems uninterested in the food try some other brand.
Eventually he will be eating next to you, when that happens, talk to him and tell him its ok. When you go to touch him don't make sudden moves, that will scare him off.
If you have other pets, make sure they are secure in your home and if possible don't wear clothes that may have pet hair on them.
Best of luck to you!!

Offer him some food, wet food is a good one to offer because its smelly and they will smell it from far away. He looks pretty healthy to be a stray cat, so make sure if you eventually take him in that he isnt someone else s cat. Most strays have chewed up ears from cat fights, they are skinny from not eating alot of healthy foods, they have ear mites, fleas, etc. You will need to keep being patient with him and move slowly, talk quietly to him and over time he may learn to trust you. Hes looking at you that way because he is watching you to see what you are going to do, he doesnt know you and doesnt trust you yet. He doesnt appear to be ferile which is a good sign. Good Luck!

What A Beauty!!! Feed him and give it time & patience.

Male cats are usually easier to convince to get near you.

He looks as though he has been a 'people cat' before.

He's staring at you because you're staring at him.

If you just do stuff outside & pretend you're not interested he'll probably come closer & closer quicker.

I would just get some cat food and shake it and try to make him eat the food. I think it'll work.
