Tough question - yes, but no. Having a belief in a singular higher power classifies you as a Deist or monotheist, but not necessarily a member of an ORGANIZED religion. People put themselves in religion, it is not something that happens automatically.

Tough question.
If I say no. Then if I believe in the sun, then I could be a sun worshipper which makes it a religion. I would say it would depend on how deep your belief in a particular something goes. If I believe the sun will rise in the morning, then no, it's not a religion. If I believe I can't function without the sun, that my very being depends on it's arrival in the morning, then it falls into a worshipping of the sun, which in time past was worshipped as a sun god....
