As a Muslim, you are on earth and you were born to represent God on earth.

If your rights are being taken from you, you are NOT told to be patient.

You are told to be patient to things like: bad financial circumstances, emotional turmoil, etc etc etc

Youre not told be silent or patient when your dignity as a human being is being trampled by the beatings or the insults of your husband or his family or even your own parents.

You need to get up and defend yourself, your right to live, your right for a dignified existence.

If you cant, you need to seek support and help from those you can.

Patience to lifes circumstances, and the whining of mother in laws, is NOT THE SAME THING as being quiet when someone takes away your dignity as a woman by beating you down.

Qur'an 4:34

Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.

the Koran is very clear of the honor bestowed upon the woman, she is not to be maltreated but respected and held in high esteem in the Muslim household, what we find is cultural problems and it is easily interpreted as Islam.

Islam forbids the mistreating of any of God's creations.
