Ok the first one isn't too wierd. my food can't touch. (sandwich can't touch fruit, pickles, chips, ect. pork chop can't touch mashed taters, green beans, ect.) Second is really annoys people. i have eating routines. Lunch- Sandwich, yogurt, fruit, chips, desert, and then drink. Sometimes my friends ask for some of my fruit, or desert, but i can't even stand opening it or handing them a peice, or even them taking it out of my lunch box.
I was at a friends house for dinner and the plates were really small, and the food was touching. i seriously couldn't eat it! i just picked at it, and i even felt a little sick eating the peices that didn't touch anything. It doens't bother me that i do it, but i just wanna know what it is and if i could stop if i wanted to.

Whether or not it is 'officially' OCD really doesn't matter. What matters is whether or not it interferes with your normal life. If you can comfortably explain to people around you that you 'prefer not to open the fruit just yet' and so forth, then it is really not hurting you or anyone else. If it gets to be a social 'disfunction' then you might want to get some sort of evaluation or diagnosis and treatment.

I agree with Puzzler's answer. If it gets to the point where it interferes with your life, then it becomes a serious problem. Also, do you have any other habits or rituals that MUST be done in order for you to "feel ok" about something? if behaviors/routines/habits like this permeate other areas of your life, you may have some OC tendencies. Go see a psychiatrist to get a complete diagnosis and/or meds, and a psychologist for therapy if needed.

Yes it sounds like OCD, and I have the same and other habits when it comes to food (and many other things.)

You can either keep on with it (as long as it doesn't interfere with relationships, your life, or cause you a great deal of stress.) You could look into behavior therapy (which I did for a while.) They will recreate your situation and you will commit not to do your ritual. Finally, if it is that bad, you could look into medication.

I don't think it's OCD, my brother does the exact same thing. I have this habit where when I buy stuff, right away I HAVE to take the sale sticker off. As for can you stop it, only you can answer that.

Honey, that is just what we are and dont worry about it. I cannot eat unless my whole house is clean , if it is not clean i cannot eat a meal. I deal with OCD's on a daily basis, its just a part of who we are. Just accept it and do not worry what others think.

Yup, it's OCD. Get some help with it before it interferes with the rest of your life.
