other scientists say the earth may not last that long due to environment issues and global warming?
Why don't they put their microscopes away for a Million years if they know nothing is going to happen in the way of evolution? Except of course for the microscopes used to develope anti-biotics. Wouldn't it be more logical to use all that money to save the planet than to try and prove a theory that can't be proven for say, another million years?

If I say evolution is a theory I hear there is proof it is happening. If I say why in a chicken egg do you alwasy find a chicken (not any evidence of it becoming something else) I hear "well it takes millions of years" It takes Millions of years or it's happening all the time. and micro-organisms is not good enough. There are thousands and thousands of animals with no signs of evolution going on.

I am speechless. Where is your brain?

The earth is 4.5 billions years old. Humans in this last century have caused the global catastrophe we are facing now. A century is 100 years, just in case you don't know that. Is that word in your buy-bull?

"So, Scientists say it takes millions of years for something to evolve but other scientists say the earth may not last that long due to environment issues and global warming? Why don't they put their microscopes away for a Million years if they know nothing is going to happen in the way of evolution?"

Evolution is a constant process, not something that just *poof* happens after X million years have passed.

"try and prove a theory that can't be proven"

Evolution is as widely-supported and evidenced as gravity. See my source if you're truly willing to learn (note: one needs a fair amount of real science education to understand all of this evidence; after all, this is real science now, not straw men. Fair warning).

"There are thousands and thousands of animals with no signs of evolution going on."

No signs to you--it's a very different story for biologists, who have the education and the knowledge to notice what you don't. Not to mention that we enact evolution ourselves with selective breeding ("artificial selection" if you will) and radiation treatments that create mutations at a rate faster than nature does, giving us more 'dice rolls' to choose from, basically. Not only do we KNOW evolution happens, but we APPLY it practically. How can we successfully apply a theory that is wrong?

Sorry lady. I'm not a believer in the myth of evolution.
As for saving the planet, sure, it can be done, but only with a world wide commitment. Every country has to be committed to such a project, which means no more wasting resources on stupid things like war, useless material goods, etc. Many things could be accomplished with total unity.
Then there's reality. Since people are generally greedy and selfish, such a dream of unity will NEVER happen on our own. So, in the end, we'll either pollute or upset the planet to the point that millions will die later, or perhaps a God or some Alien intervention will help change our ridiculous ways.
As for now, get ready for a rough ride coming up in the future.

You obviously have no idea what your are talking about when it comes to evolution.

Humans, for example, are in a constant state of evolution. Scientists do not say it takes millions of years for us to evolve, they say it takes millions of years for humans to evolve from apes. To see evidence of our constant evolution, one has to look no further than our increase in height over the past generations. Ever wonder why you have to bend down to go through doorways in very old buildings? That is due to natural selection.

Evolution is well documented. I think you are confusing a scientific 'theory', with a 'hypothesis'.

You are counting "millions of years" from the current time - totally ignoring the millions of years that have passed.

Evolution today is the result of millions of PAST years and will continue for millions of FUTURE years.

As to earths destruction? THat won't happen until our sun dies. Life, as we know it, might end but the earth will continue until the sun no longer provides.

Evolution is, indeed, a theory...one with scientific evidence. Religion is a fairy tale with NO evidence at all.

Evolution will always remain a theory. There is not enough evidence to prove it as fact. The evidence has no links to other evidence. All any found clues do is raise other hypothesis, resulting in another theory. So, the only support the theory of evolution has is other theory, besides a good list of circular reasoning, which of course proves little to nothing.

There is also a difference between micro- and macro-evolution.

Height is not a good evidence of evolution - regardless of what others say. There are human fossils which show tribes and peoples from thousands of years ago who were much taller than people of today. Height has actually been proven to be genetic or several generations of nutrition (good or bad), making an effect on it.

Intelligence is no proof. The only changes have been advances in science and communication. In some ways, we have limited our brains capacity by having computers and written word. The Odyssey used to be performed completely from memory - now, we have PDA's to remind us of our appointments.

Evolution. No proof. Just theory.

You're saying that since we might not be around in a year, we should stop trying to learn anything new? No, that's not logical. Evolution has been demonstrated many times over. The only people who claim we need a million years to show it happens are the ones who will still be denying it a million years from now when we're all flying elephants.

Biologists are very different from environmentalists. There is no need to prove evolution - it's already been proven.

The earth will continue to exist, whether it's still suitable for human habitation is another matter. There will always be some life even if it's just bacteria.

How about doing some searching for a science text book, written by actual scientists?

You're still here?
Didn't the thorough reaming you got a few minutes ago convince you that you should do a little research before posting such nonsense?
BTW, try asking these Q's in the science category where they will have a heyday with you...
