There is definately a difference when the groomer bathes my dog and when I bathe him. I've tried everything to get that groomer clean scent but have had no luck. He's a short haired breed and rather easy to bathe but when I do it, he still smells like a dog. Is there a certain shampoo I don't know about? Thanks in advance.

Some groomers use a little baby powder.

Every grooming shop/groomer will have their own choices of shampoos. At the shop where I work, we bathe every dog very, very thoroughly and we do it twice. We brush them dry using a blow dryer and do vigorous brushing, even the short coated dogs. Some short coats shed a lot more than people realize. We also have done the dogs' anal glands before the bath and cleaned out the ears really well. At our shop we rarely use a doggy cologne. We have a few clients that like it but in general we just don't use them.

Whatever my groomer uses to bathe my dogs smells good every time they get wet afterwards. It's a very pleasant smell. I have a Golden Doodle and a Pug.

There are lots of shampoos on the market. Just have to find one that suits what you like for smell. I have bought lots over the year for my beagle and at times he smells like dog. So to freshen him there is dog cologne or my favorite that takes the dog smell away. I think its called stink out!

I used to groom dogs, and we used this special dog perfume type stuff. It's like a body spritz. Sometimes they will have it for sale if they do the retailing thing. It's nice to have at home for freshening up thier feet and stuff in between baths. I think the one we used was called crazy dog. Hope this helps =)

Ask your groomer. Many have shampoos and conditioners that they sell to their customers.
