This belongs in History, not immigration. Stick to the issues.
I've noticed that when you can't argue successfully, people tend to go back hundreds of years. In that case of those who hate Christianity, they tend to go back centuries.
Live in the present, for God's sake...or at least in the present century. If you can't, discuss in History, where it belongs.

I don't know if we'll ever know for sure. I mean it seems some got along or there wouldn't be the stories of Thanksgiving or the Lewis and Clark expedition and other things. The fact they ended up putting them on reservations shows the other side. They fought with each other, so it's not like there wasn't turmoil already. People keep acting like they all sat around a camp fire smoking their peace pipes and singing tunes and life was just peaceful and peachy till the English came. Sorry but this was wilderness then. Dog eat dog and survival.
As with anything I'm sure things were fine till they started effecting their ability to survive and not showing respect. Kind of what's happening now. History is to learn from......not use as some justification to keep pounding people TODAY for something they had nothing to do with hundreds of years ago.

Well, it wasn't as bad as the impact the Spanish had on the natives of Mexico (the term 'Montezuma's revenge' has a reason behind it) and the natives taught the pilgrims to farm corn and were invited to Thanksgiving dinner, but in the end it didn't turn out too well for them. On the other hand, I don't see the natives here trying to illegally immigrate to Mexico under the idea that things are better there, do you?

Same impact the 'native' americans had when they croosed the land bridge from asia on the native peoples at that time. How far back do you want to go in the settlement of America. Just far enough to suit your agenda?

Lets see, currently there are reservations in a few states confined to fairly small areas. They once roamed freely throughout the North American continent. What do you think the effect was?

The first thing the English settlers did was shoot one of the Indians... and things have never changed much since then.

they gained civilization or improvements right?
lets see before the English they had to:
hunt
fish
sleep
reproduce
after they have to:
live on res.
go to work every day
pay a mortgage (if not on res)
no time to fish
no time to hunt
etc. etc. etc.
now that's what I call improvements
but at least they weren't made slave like the Spanish did to them

The beginning of the death of most Indians beliefs and way of living. We crammed our Religion down their throats, cheated and killed many. It was the beginning of the end of a great society.A Genocide.
A very good question for a change.
