We got a converter to use for European electrical to American and they still won't work. Does anyone know how we can make them work, or what the problem with the current converter might be?

You need a step up converter from 110V to 220V.
You also need to make sure it can supply enough watts for your Amplifier and the player

So check the back of the amp. to see its power consumption and make sure your converter support that load.
(Then add the watts for your player or any other device you plan to use)

Check:

This supports up to 100 Watts.

Sounds to me you are doing all the right things.
Take the converter back and tell the salesman
what is going on and hope he is knowledgeable
about his business. Most all european
electronics are built with 220 DC and all you
have to do is step it down. Good luck with
your salesman.
