No Jr will not make the chase this year. The teams he is trying to catch are to strong and consistent at this time of year.

Sorry Dale, but good luck next year with Hendrick.

Personally I hope not but heres how he can...

8-Dale Earnhardt Jr. still has a shot to qualify for the Chase for the Nextel Cup. A longshot, granted. “I want [our fans and sponsors] to know that no matter what, me and the team are giving everything we got,” Earnhardt said. “We're not going to lose focus or give up or pack it in.” Earnhardt is 13th in series points coming into Saturday night’s Chevy Rock & Roll 400, 128 behind 12th-place #29-Kevin Harvick. The top eight drivers in the current points have clinched Chase spots. Drivers in ninth and 10th place must only start on Saturday night to clinch. The lowest Earnhardt can finish at Richmond is fifth to still have a chance at making the Chase. The two caveats to that scenario: He must also lead the most laps and Harvick has to finish 43rd. He can also finish fourth and lead one lap, or finish third and lead no laps and still qualify – as long as Harvick finishes last. On the other end of the spectrum, if Earnhardt wins Saturday night and leads the most laps, he’ll clinch a spot if Harvick finishes 33rd or worse OR if Kurt Busch finishes 37th or worse. If Earnhardt wins but doesn’t lead the most laps, he’ll need a Harvick finish of 34th or lower OR a Busch finish of 39th or lower.

Jr is done as far as making the chase. The only chance Jr has is if Harvick has a bad day and opens the door for Jr. I doubt that will happen and Jr will be locked out of the chase for the 2nd time in 3 years

I hope that he does make the chase but he is going to have to pull off some kind of a mirical tomorrow to win, because the guys that Jr is competing against have been running really strong the last few races, Jr is going to have to get all he can get tomorrow night, he is going to have to finish in front of Kurt Bush, Martin Truex Jr, and Harvick, he is going to have to finish in the top-5, and he is going to have to lead as many laps as he can, because Jr cannot afford another DNF, his pit stops are going to have to be better than everyone elses, he cannot afford a mistake on pit road either. So right now its Do or Die for Jr, he has 158 points to make up on current 12th place driver Kurt Bush, this is Jrs last Chance to get into the chase, if he has another blown engine, or a crash, or a bad pit stop,, its all over for Jr and his his Chase for the Cup Chances.

Highly unlikely. Even if Kurt Bush has a bit of a misshap. Jr will have to be flawless. Judging by the qualification I doubt it. Pat is on a role with the #2 and it does not look like it's gonna end.

There is about a 98.5% chance that JR. will not make the chase. Busch is just too good to loose his spot.

He needs to do some catching up to "make the chase" this sunday. he may somehow, by the grace of god, make the top 12 this weekend, but will still need a great run next weekend at richmond, to "make the chase" by the skin of his butt!!!
i hate to break to you junior fans, but i dont think he is going to make it, no matter how hard we pull for him. bad engine program at DEI screwed him out of the chase.

It is still a mathematical possibility but the odds for Jr. are not good. He would have to have at least a win in the next 2 races plus a top 5 and Bush will have to dnf. I would like to see him knock Howdy-Doody out of the chase but I am not holding out much hope for Jr. at this point in time.

i am a die hard jr fan but im also realistic and he will not make the chase this season but next year he will be with a new team and have new equipment and that will put him in a better position to make the chase, will he win a championship, i think so, when ?
