Well if you are talking about just this night then try:
~take a bath or do something calming before bed
~Make sure your sleep environment is dark, quiet, cool, and comfortable
Use the bed only for sleep keep the bedroom free from distractions like television, computers, and work
Don’t eat a big meal before bedtime (but don’t go to bed hungry, either)
~Exercise, but finish a few hours before bedtime
~Avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, cola, chocolate), before bed. These substances can keep you awake or lead to disrupted sleep later in the night
~Get out of bed if you can’t fall asleep within 15–20 minutes. ~Only spend time in bed when you are actually sleeping
~Don’t watch the clock—it can cause anxiety about sleep
~Limit napping to 20–30 minutes, or eliminate it altogether
~Eat a bowl of dry cereal before bed

If you are talking about wuick but not immediate effects then try a thing called natural remedies sleep tonic. It worked really well and fast for me here's the link:http://www.nativeremedies.com/tissue-salts-sleep-tonic.shtml

If you wantlong term effects try this:
~Keep a journal or sleep log to record both good and poor nights’ sleep. This can help you recognize patterns and expose activities that trigger sleeplessness
~Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, including weekends

Make sure you begin to relax early in the evening; no exciting TV shows, stay off the internet, etc. Take a nice bath and do some slow, deep breathing to relax more. Ask yourself why you feel you won't sleep, then know that there is nothing to worry about and put all thoughts but sleep out of your mind.

Save being excited for the morning! Good luck in school this year.

Take a benadryl every night before bed for like three nights. By that time, you'll be used to getting to sleep at a certain time, and the benadryl will help you fall asleep the first night or so when you aren't too tired already.
