I know someone only as a waitress and I don't think asking her out works as well at the workplace since she's sort of supposed to be friendly. However, the evidence that she likes me is mounting.

She seems happy to talk to me and once while she wasn't my server still made a point to come and speak to me. I thought maybe she was just being friendly to me because she sees I like her, so one day I didn't pay much attention to her, and sure enough, as I departed she spoke to me. I thought still maybe it was just how she was, but yesterday she asked my mom where I was and told my mom that I am sweet.

If you think I should ask her out, how should I do it without making her feel uncomfortable about declining if it turns out that she is uninterested? Remember, this would be at her workplace.

Also, I am wondering whether the people answering are before, in, or after high school. I am out of high school myself. Thanks :)

I am out of high school and in college.

I would ask her when her shift ends and see if she wants to get some coffee or see when the next day she has off and ask her that you would be much obliged if you could get to know each other better. Maybe have an event in mind or if you have already talked about some common interests then find something going on around your area you can take her to if she is available.

It is really hard to say with a waitress because it is her job to be friendly because it is her income to pay bills etc. She could have a boyfriend already but the worst case scenario is that she says no. If this is the case move on and know that you at least gave it a shot. Better to know then to not know. Take the chance!
