Would the US armed forces defeat the Russian Armed forces? Russia has got more people, more nuclear weapons...

In response to Condor, Did you forget about Russia getting their butt kicked in Afghanistan? The United States has been on the winning side of several wars, check your non communist history books, if they have books. You say, Americans are weak, If we are so weak why haven't your communist buddy's taken over our country? One more question, How many Russians did Stalin murder? I hear it was in the millions. The United States doesn't mass murder its people and we are Free.

The Vietnamese 'defeated' the US w. out all these complications. Iraq will claim to defeat the US when a popular leader emerges and what is left of the occupying forces are swept away once there is no longer enough oil left there to be worth controlling. Only if the systems we have now fail so completely that hunger and starvation become endemic in countries that are inherently powerful is there any likelihood of WW3 taking off and the worry of true defeat, that said the last two economic depressions of Capitalism were enough to be the major precursor of WW1 and the main indirect cause of WW2. Defeat is sometimes the best thing for a people, look at the post war economic miracle of Germany and the mockery that has made of Capitalists who decried Socialism; they work far smarter than the US on an only slightly smaller scale... Defeat can also take the form of sliding down the economic scale but maintaining economic growth like the old British Empire/now Commonwealth which is still quietly doing business. The engineered hysteria about 'world terrorists' is really about 'liberating' funds and taxes for wars over resources/oil/gas. We have literally created our own terrorists, we funded and solidly supported Bin Laden to head up the Mujaheddin fighting against the old USSR, I went to school in London w. the guy, he was no more a terrorist than you until being radicalised for us by the US, same for the West’s ex puppet and bogyman Saddam.

Historically Russia fought a great number of wars and never was defeated. On the other hand US never won any single war. Weapons are the major factor in any war, but people behind those weapons are the second major factor. Russian generals and soldiers are far more superior to Americans. Americans are weak. Just read statistics about Iraq war how many American soldiers deserted, how many committed suicide and how many were sent to be treated for mental health disorders.

If it became a nuclear war it does not matter who has more both countries would be destroyed and the fallout would poison the whole planet . Everyone looses. And the US has about 100 million more people in it`s population.
To be more successful economically and live in peace is far better than a so called military victory .

In the case of a nuclear war, nobody wins. In a conventional war whichever country is stupid enough to invade the other would lose -- "the territorial imperative" or "home field advantage" would take care of that... but Russia doesn't have more people they have about half of the US Population -- the Old USSR had more people.

America actually has more nuclear weapons. The US could crush Russia in a war, but it will actually be China who destroys Russia, as Putin has left his eastern borders undefended with a racist overpopulated food importer right next door just waiting to invade.

On their soil (or near): forget it, no way: Napoleon tried it, Hitler tried, both rousted out of there. They have toooooo many souls and you try to invade them, you're dead. As for some war on "neutral" ground", even there...they don't want to start anything because though their military is becoming better equipped (what with all that money from their oil reserves) they have huge social problems (medical system in ruin, AIDS running rampid, alcoolism big problem) . So they want to keep their army happy (like in North Korea) but'a about it.
