My vet is closed until Tuesday and my female cat ( 11 years old) is bleeding from her butt! She has never ever bled before and I don't know what is going on.

She may have eaten some old fish that someone left in the woods, I don't know if that would make her bleed or not.

So...I was wondering if anyone has any insight on this!!

HELP!

Well, it could also be hemoraging from wayfarin (rat & mouse)
poison...it causes blood to thin and seep into the rectum, eyes, mouth, gums, etc. The antidote is vitamin K.

You don't mention what the blood's color is (bright or dark) or if it's thick or not, how much blood is there, and is she bleeding from inside the rectum or on its edges.

All those things are really important.

If she's bleeding from inside, and the blood is dark and thicker, it doesn't matter how much blood there is- go to a vet.

If it's bright blood around the rectum, you can try neosporin ointment (wash area with warm water first) and watch to see if it keeps bleeding.

If it doesn't appear to be causing her any pain or itching, watch her eyes & mouth for little hemorrages as this could mean wayfarin poisoning.

You really need to see a vet today. Go to a different one. There are usually vets that stay open a half-day on saturdays, although this is a long weekend.

Call pharmacies in your area- see if you can find vitamin K pill form, and ask how much you could use for a cat.

I wouldn't freak out too much about poison- but you do need to know what kind of stuff could be going on.

Go to a vet. They usually leave emergency numbers.

I have a cat that use to bleed from his butt. He would cry when using the litter box. Well he had that little camera stuck up his butt at the vets. They said there was a piece of plastic he must have swallowed and it was growing into and attached to the inside of his intestine. They said it was too intrusive to remove it. He bled and had discomfort occasionally for quite a while. He's ok now, it doesn't blled anymore. I think it's hard for cats to spit things out, their tongues are made for grooming like a brush and the bristles tend to be leaning in the direction of their throat. Maybe there was some tinfoil or something near the fish that she accidently swallowed. It could be a $700.00 vet bill to tell you there's nothing they can do. I understand being unable to pay the vet bill, I have spent thousands on vet bills butat some points I couldn't afford it. I never lost any animals because of it, I did what I could. I love animals, but there's people out there that can't afford the doctor for their children, or even refuse medical help for their kids because of their religion. They keep having more kids, I don't hear about anyone saying they're bad parents and shouldn't have their kids. There would be millions more kids in foster care if that was the case. We eat animals, they're the bottom of the food chain. I know it's not nice to say but it's just a pet. I think you probably feel enough guilt without the critics on here. I think if it was a do or die situation I would take the pet to the vet and pay for the office visit up front. Tell them thats all you can afford. If they can figure out what the problem is by feeling her tummy and checking her vitals they may be able to recommend an affordable treatment and if they need to do a bunch of tests and and keep her in the hospital tell them you can't afford it. They should be willing to do it anyway, at the cost of them keeping her and finding her a home. They have connections and get donations. As least then you've done all you can. Is she showing signs of discomfort? You don't really say. If she's not acting sickly, overly thirsty, and tired she probably hasn't been posioned. I hope it all works out.

I easily do no longer understand why people ask those questions right here and don't basically call the vet? Blood interior the urine is maximum probable a demonstration of a urinary an infection, notwithstanding there are countless different extra intense issues it may desire to be. whenever you first notice something like this you are able to desire to get your animal to a vet, using fact the swifter that is taken care of the extra advantageous and quicker the restoration would be. A urinary an infection is easily treatable with antibiotics, and oftentimes basically desires a 2 week dose. Your vet will advise which you retain a lot of sparkling water obtainable on your cat in any respect circumstances, and maximum probable advise which you feed moist nutrition as damaging to dry, a minimum of till issues have cleared up.

Not sure how your cat could find old fish in the woods. cats should be inside. but doesn't sound like you are a very responciable cat owner anyways if your cat is bleeding and you are on here. call the vets number they usually will have an answering service or a message that will tell you what number to call incase of an emergency.

If she is bleeding she may have eaten poison and could die. This is an emergency! Call the vet at his house or find an emergency vet and ask him to come to his office at once!!! Just find his house or mobile telephone number, or any other vet's. The cat needs the antidote immediately!!

the only way fish could do that is it a bone got lodged somewhere inside her...and that could be serious if it doesnt come out...or maybe she has some intestinal problems...wot ever the cause i dont think bleeding from there is very good...how long has it bled for? if it stops and your cat doesnt seem to be in any pain it might not hav been serious but a vet check as soon as you can would be advisable... good luck :)

Even if she did eat some old fish, it wouldnt make her bleed.
If she is dripping blood, she may be in heat. Do you know any other vets? there must be another one that you know of that you could at least call. She is probably in heat, but if your sure she isnt, call another vet. You could even ask a family member for a phone number of the vet they go to.
Good luck! hope this helps : )

Every vet and I mean every vet has an emergency contact number when he is not available. Call his number and they will either give it to you or you will be transfered. Your cat may well be dead if you wait until Tuesday to get her help.

Good luck to you both.

Who on earth leaves "old fish" out in the woods, and for what reason did they have the "old fish" in the woods? Good luck with your cat, I am sure there is a vet open SOMEWHERE if you care enough to take it to one......

It could be a Gastro problem. I would call the vet and see if there is an emergency vet on call.
