Hi people, i am learning how to speak Spanish these days, because it is crucial for my line of work.... so i am taking few crash courses to learn basic Spanish, i want to watch some good Spanish movies but i don't know their names, please tell me some movies, i already watched "Y Tu' Mama Tambien" that's a very good movie, i know most dvd's comes with Spanish spoken language track but i prefer to watch original Spanish movies like i mentioned above, thanks a lot in advance.

There are a few movies made by the same team that produced the one you mention, like "Amores Perros", "El Crimen del Padre Amaro", "Babel", etc.
But, there is a good movie you have to see, it was produced by PBS, I saw it 15 years ago the name is "El Norte" if you can find it, enjoy it. It is a great movie!

¨Belle Epoque¨(despite its French title definitely a very Spanish movie by the director Frenando Trueba. (an interesting note,a VERY young and practically unknown Penelope Cruz).
very sad but with excellent performances by Javier Bardem and others is ¨ Mar Adentro¨ (dir. Amenabar)
ALL of Amenabar´s early films
El¨ Laberinto del Fauno¨ is a mixed bag. But Maribel Verdu gives a great performance.(although billed as a fantasy flick it is more about exploring the dark recesses of the human mind(soul). Although it takes place in the Spanish Civil War it is not a hstorical film.
Antonio Banderas has just filmed(directed NOT acted in) a movie about what it was like growing up in his boyhood Malaga(coming of age type film). Sorry ,can´t remember the title.

I think you're already headed in the right direction. I would advise you to just pick a movie that you know well and enjoy certain lines from. For instance, I love the Big Lebowski and could quote many lines from it. Therefore, if I can learn to translate just those (memorable) lines, I would already have a small but growing vocabulary. It would be easy to recall because I've already done the work of memorizing each line. It doesn't ultimately matter what movie you choose, unless you want something culturally educational, as well.

I'd recommend watching telenovelas. There are two miniseries called:
1. La Fea mas Bella
2. Yo amo a Juan Querendon.
Both very funny "telenovelas", and will teach you typical Mexican Spanish.
For mexican spanish, I would also recommend the old black and white movies. Mexico was like the old hollywood back then. Great quality movies during that time. Get something with Pedro Infante. They speak clearly, and are very entertaining, and made Mexican film famous a long time ago.
If you really want to learn Spanish (from SPAIN), watch Almodovar's movies....they are always about women and their crazy lives. I don't like his movies, but they will teach you the typical spanish accent. Not typical in mexico, though.
I really liked Pan's labyrinth, but if you are getting it just for listening, don't do it, because it is very hard to hear and understand.
And, just for fun, if you want to learn a little portuguese, rent the movie "Me, you, and them".....excellent movie about love in impoverished Brazil.
