strait 6 vs. v6 ?!

Hey, i have a jeep and was thinking to get a rubicon... but than someone told me they are v6 not strait 6 and i over heard a few times that strait 6 is the way to go.

I'm jsut curious in just exatly why it so much better off in the dirt than the v6 is. Any more reliable?

The Rubicon is the ultimate factory set-up JEEP they come with air-lockers and extremely low ratio gearing for better off-road ability.

Get the Wrangler. If you want to go Jeepin' you'll need a real Jeep. Sure the liberty is nice, but it isn't very capable off-road. You mentioned carrying a mountain bike or two. You need to get a bike rack for that. Then you can mount your bikes on the back and you have more room inside. I also like hunting, hiking, camping, and my 2005 Wrangler Unlimited has plenty of room for my gear. Mine was before the whole four-door thing, so it's basically just a longer Jeep. You could look into that if you don't want the four doors. All of the new unlimiteds have four doors, so if you want two doors and a longer lasting engine get the TJ unlimited. The seats in my Jeep recline really far so if you have to sleep in your Jeep it might not be too bad. Unless you build a pickup to be an off-roader, it's not going to be as good as a Jeep. Good Luck!!!

Stay with the straight six. its proven and reliable and will be much easier to maintain and service.

The v6 is a joke if they were gonna put a motor like that in the new jeep they could of at least put some power to it. Plus theres no low end torque.
compared to the straight six.

The older model jeeps used a straight 6 engine, the new ones use V6 engines. Definitly stick with the straight 6 motors, they run forever and take tons of abuse. The new jeeps are pieces of crap anyhow.

The new Wrangler's 2007 and up are V-6,they don't have the torque that the straight 6 does. But a friend of mine has a new 2007 Wrangler and I have an older 2001 Wrangler and we went to the sand dunes, he took his Wrangler everywhere I went with no problems.I think if you just add a AEM cold air intake and maybe a Jet chip it will have plenty of power.
