Just to check – you can’t fly (eg medical or nerves) or you think it will be too expensive (and therefore can’t fly?). Generally flying is the cheapest way to visit.
If there is any way you can fly (even if you take some valium or something), perhaps try the budget airlines such as Oasis to Hong Kong, then a Jetstar flight from Hong Kong to Australia and then another budget flight from Australia to NZ. Often however, unless you can really book the superbudget tickets it is just as easy to book a flight on the one airline (ie not lots of budget flights). Flights via Asia are generally cheaper. Royal Brunei often has cheap airfares.
