Get yourself a spray bottle and set it on stream. Every time the cat starts to claw the furniture, give it a quick couple of squirts. The cat will stop immediately, but only for a time. You have to do it every time the cat claws the furniture so that it will eventually remember - that behavior brings unwanted results. After a time, the cat will stop completely. When I moved in with my husband (before we were married), he had 3 cats that were allowed (by his brothers previous girlfriend) to be up on the kitchen counters and table. I couldn't stand that, so I got a spray bottle and went to work. Within a couple weeks (give or take), they all stayed down. But you've got to be consistent. Good luck :o)

1. Use claw caps (www.softpaws.com)\
2. Every time you see her grab her gently from the neck, say No and put her on her scratching pad.
3. Trim her nails with a nail clipper weekly, just the pointy tips, like 2 mm, not deep into the curve of the claw.
4. Don't ever consider de-clawing. It is a torture, and it can lead to worse situations, like not using the litterbox (no one likes to dig with amputated fingers).

Get a claw scissors and clip your cat's claws. Get a scratching post that's at least 3' tall with a wide base so your cat can still scratch. (You can rub catnip on it to attract the cats). The scratching is instinctive so you can't stop it entirely. If you put your cats in a safe room when you're asleep or when you're gone there'd be less opportunity for them to get in trouble.

Put little mits on it that tie up. Then let it out in the garden to claw at some trees every now and then.
