Yes it is. If he answers yes than he is a superficial jerk and she will cry. If he answers no than he never listens or pays attention to her and he is a liar... and she will cry. Either way, the guy is going to be dealing with a hysterical woman. The best thing to do is leave the room quietly and pretend you never heard the question.

I would say so. But heck if I were a guy, I would ask her if I looked fat in stuff all the time. See what she says and does. I really think its the most asinine question in the world. Also the biggest trap as well. And a very big sign the chick is insecure. Because as I look at it, if she got into the dress she obviously wasn't fat. And if she can get out the dress with no difficulties then she still isn't fat. Not only that she knows what size the dress is, so I would leave it up to her to figure out if she looks fat in something or not. Would be a waste of time when she has the facts right there in front of her.
P.S. I never ask guys if I look fat in anything, I wear what I want, and if they don't like it too damn bad, cause I'm putting it on either way. Its not like there are many straight guys that are fashion gurus, so what is the sense of even asking them? Always best to use your own judgement. After all if you used it before finding a man then you can use it while having a man.

If you answer wrong......yeah, pretty much. That question is loaded because not only do you have to watch your words, but you have to watch how you say it, the tone of voice, your eyes, your body language......all of that.
If you've ever get asked that again, don't panic. As smoothly (but promptly) as you can, tell her, "Of course not. You're gorgeous." or something like that. Make sure you smile like you have something romantic on your mind and give her a kiss like she's the most beautiful woman in the world and you should be home free.
Usually, I don't advocate lying under any circumstances, but in this case, even if your woman is a bit overweight.....LIE through your teeth. Seriously.

I personally don't understand why women would ask these questions. If the guy says no, she knows he's lying; if he says yes, she'd get mad.
You know you're fat when you have to ask silly questions like that. It's a trap, men! Don't fall for it. Don't answer the question, say "you look great!" instead.

i think thats an annoying question because whenever a girl asks that question she is looking for a compliment. true or not she has to hear it. so I thinks its a bad question for the guys because it makes you look like you need attention and reassurance all the time. it might get annoying im pretty sure a guy wants a girl who is more comfortable with themselves. i mean im not one to talk because i like reassurance also i just dont like to a lot and i dont ask about my weight just little things.

When you hear that question, it means they're fishing for complements. If she's not fat, then tell her flat out "babe, you are not fat, but you are beautiful". If she is fat, hopefully she won't be asking you this question but if she does, just tell her she's beautiful and hope she doesn't pursue it further.
