i had a pain when i woke up this morning and it felt like it was underneath my right sholder balde

its got worse over the day and now it hurts when i turn around

is there a muscle there that could have been injured?

Yes its the trapezious muscle. You should try applying ice packs for 20 min. at a time about every 2 hours. Tomorrow you can alternate from ice to heat, same thing. You could take an anti-inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen or Aleve every 6 hours. You can also use one of those heat rubs to try and loosen it up, like ice-hot or mineral ice, a couple times a day. If its not back to normal in 3 to 4 days, you should see your doctor to make sure it's not something worse. But most likely its just a muscle strain. I would also recommend you take it easy. Don't do any lifting or bending, nothing to irritate the muscle any more.
