There will be instructions on the package. It varies because some hams are raw, some are partially cooked and some are fully cooked and just need to be heated.

A ham just has to be heated and here is a good way.
HEATING A PRE-COOKED HAM
Mix 3 tablespoon honey with 1/3 cup sweet syrup from canned fruit (Pineapple, Peaches, etc;) add and mix in 1/4 teaspoon ground clove spice. Brush mixture all over the ham. Sprinkle ham with some brown sugar. Wrap the ham tight with aluminum wrap. Heat in oven for 60 minutes at 225-F or until heated.

My favorite is to cook the ham whole in Coca-cola. Take a very large stock pot, and place your ham it it. Take an onion and stud it with cloves, put into the pot. Pour enough Coke over the ham to cover it (for me it usually takes 2 - 2 liter bottles) and then bring to a simmer over medium heat, then turn it down until it is medium low, cook for 6-8 hours, until tender. Remove the ham, and discard the liquid. Next, remove some of the fat from the ham, and make a few slashes through it. Make a mixture of 1/2 cup molasses or black treacle, with 1 tbsp mustard powder, spread on the outside of the ham. Then sprinkle brown sugar on top of the molasses mixture, bake in a very hot oven (200-220 C) for about 20-30 minutes, careful not to burn it.
Carve and serve.

Gammon (Ham Steak) With Egg and Cheese Sauce
For a hearty, homely meal try Alan Coxon's tasty recipe for gammon, served with a tasty cheese sauce.
by English_Rose
2 servings
30 min 15 min prep 4 ounces butter
4 ounces flour
1 1/4 cups milk, warmed
1 teaspoon nutmeg, grated
4 ounces cheddar cheese, grated
4 eggs, hard-boiled, quartered
2 ham steaks
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
4 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated
Heat the butter in a heavy-based saucepan.
Stir in the flour and cook gently, stirring, for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually add in the warmed milk, stirring well as you do so. Cook, stirring, until the mixture has thickened into a white sauce.
Add the nutmeg and Cheddar cheese, stirring well. Cook gently until the cheese has melted.
Preheat the broiler.
Broil the ham steaks until cooked on one side. Turn over the steaks.
Top the uncooked side of the ham steaks with the hard-boiled egg quarters. Spoon over the cheese sauce, sprinkle with the cayenne and Parmesan and cook briefly under the broiler until glazed. Serve at once.
Excess sauce can be stored away in a air-tight container for up to two days.

I start by buying a raw (non cooked) ham and some broil-n-bags. I preheat oven to 350 degrees. I mix a fourth cup water and brown sugar (for basting). I put the ham in the bag, punch about 8 holes all over top of bag. After 30 minutes, I baste the ham and check for doneness by inserting a fork in several places. If the juice is not clear, its not done. When it reaches doneness, I baste again, toothpick to hold pineapple slices with cherries and give it 15 more minutes in oven. Serve warm and NEVER pre-slice as this will cause drying. Buy size of ham according to number of people to be served.

it takes around half the required time depending on how many pounds your ham is and if its raw or pre-cooked if you bake it in a reynolds baking bag that you get to fix turkeys in. just make sure you get a box for the size of your ham. a box has 2 in it. you can get ham glazes at the grocery if you like that and baste it with it and tooth pick pineapples with cherries in the centers its good that way or just add a half cup to a cup of water to it to keep it moist and it doesn't dry out. bake on 350 degrees. the best tasting ham is old tavern brand hams. but theres other good brands out there as well. if you use that cooking bag you will have the best jusiest ham you ever tasted and it will be so tender.

Christmas in September?
OK it's your feast you may call it what you like.
Please check on the ham label, they usually are already cooked and only need to be heated. the best way is to bake it for about an hour depending on the size of the ham.

The best ham I have ever tasted was simply covered with Dijon mustard and then cloves poked in all over the place, then baked in the oven. Delicious, simply delicious.
