Marie, It's very likely to be simple eye strain -though be sure to check with you eye doctor. While you are waiting for your appointment, try these suggestions"
1) lessen the time you spend on the computer
2) while you are on the computer, every 5 minutes, take your eyes off the monitor, look at something far away and focus on it.
3) visit http:www.visionworksusa.com for other eye relieving exercises.

No for the special glasses question. I am guessing that you have an LCD monitor, because this is a common problem for people using LCD monitors. Obviously, your eyes are straining to read text on the your computer screen. To reduce eye strain, all of your variables must be fine-tuned, because just one variable can cause eye strain. 1)Are your reading glasses the right strength? 2)Check the resolution of your LCD monitor. All LCD monitors have a native resolution. If the Windows setting for your resolution is set differently than the native resolution, then text and pictures will be slightly fuzzy. 4)Check the current refresh rate of the monitor. Have at least 60Hz for a current refresh rate. Many people feel more comfortable with a 70-75Hz refresh rate. 5)Check the brightness and contrast of the monitor. If your monitor is a little too bright, then over time, your eyes will not like it.
