I lost 50 pounds in a year. I also have been able to keep it off. I started out by just exercising a little bit at a time, and then I increased it. Until I could exercise 30min. a day 4 times a week. Simple steps like parking the car at the back of the parking lot instead of the closest spot I could find really helped that first bit. Make a few diet changes each week. If you eat junk food alot then eat less junk food. Eat 3-5 servings of fruit or vegetables. Eat whole grain foods. Drink a lot of water. At least 8- 10 cups of water each day. It helps you feel full. Sometimes your body mistakes being thirsty for being hungry. Also try to lose the weight slowly-no more than 2 pounds a week. This keeps your body from going into a starvation mode. Try and find a few supportive friends who will keep you going with words of encouragement. It may take a year, but it will be worth it.

It depends on how fast your body takes to lose. It could be 3 months or 6 months, or longer. I am a slow loser, but you are not supposed to lose more than one pound a week for it to be healthy. It's very simple, and you don't have to give up any of your favorite foods. Take a dish, divide it in half. Put vegetables on one side, and divide the other side with one serving of meat/fish/chicken/pork, and one starch. A 1/2 baked potato instead of a whole one. 1 scoop of rice, 1/2 c. cooked pasta, etc. Eat the side with the vegetables first, then eat the protein, and finally your starch. By the time you get to that section of the plate, you will already be full, and not worry that the portion is so small. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, DONT Give up your favorite foods, it will only cause you to crash and give up. Good Luck.

130 days at the safe rate of a half a pound of fat a day. I'm just guessing you burn about 3000 calories a day hardly doing anything. So if this were the case you'd have to eat 1250 calories a day, to lose a half a pound a day. If you throw in exercise with that, you can eat more. So burn 500 more exercising and now you can eat 1750 calories, and still lose the weight, which is the healthier way to do it. Check out what you burn a day with this calculator at http://www.nutritiondata.com/tools/calories-burned, then you do the math for what you want to lose a day. Keep in mind that 3500 calories is about 1 pound of fat. Good luck!

Diet and exercise is the only way, there is no magic pill but many will take your money with Questionable alternatives,
Be Wary of "Alternative" Health Methods
"Alternative medicine" has become the politically correct term for questionable practises formerly labelled quack and fraudulent.
alternative medicine is not always safe; alternative medicine is not economic; go see a nutritionist to work out a diet to suit your needs, No two people are alike so there is no ready made plan of Alternative or otherwise that will suit your needs.
Beware of Quacks after your money with lies.

Making dietary changes is your first line of defense in treating hypothyroidism. Learn here https://tr.im/2IaHB
Many people with hypothyroidism experience crippling fatigue and brain fog, which prompts reaching for non-nutritional forms of energy like sugar and caffeine. I’ve dubbed these rascals the terrible twosome, as they can burn out your thyroid (and destabilize blood sugar).
1. Just say no to the dietary bungee cord. Greatly reduce or eliminate caffeine and sugar, including refined carbohydrates like flour, which the body treats like sugar. Make grain-based carbohydrates lesser of a focus, eating non-starchy vegetables to your heart’s content.
2. Up the protein. Protein transports thyroid hormone to all your tissues and enjoying it at each meal can help normalize thyroid function. Proteins include nuts and nut butters; quinoa; hormone- and antibiotic-free animal products (organic, grass-fed meats, eggs, and sustainably-farmed fish); and legumes.
