I have a chuwahwah dog and she will be 14 in Nov.She was a Christmas present to me back in 1993. She seems to be pretty healthy for her age other than having some arthritis. Although she has slowed down alot, she still has her days where she will chase my 6 yr old son and play with him and act like a puppy. I was wondering if anyone knows how long a chuwahwah usually lives?

I had one who lived to be 19.I had another who died at 14.It depends on genetics, diet, exercise, etc. Also,a spayed or neutered dog usually will live longer. If your dog has no heart problems or other major organ ailments, she could live for another few years or more.

You are lucky to have her 14 years. I have a subscription to Chihuahua Connection magazine and I haven't seen one yet that has lived 14 years posted on their Rainbow Bridge page for the doggies that has died. So you are apparently taking very good care of her.
My parents have a chihuahua mix and she's also about 14 years old. She still gets around great. But her eyes are starting to get milky looking, so she'll be going blind before long.
That's why I don't understand why all of these people are fussing over dog food brands. My parents dog has never been fed anything but Walmart's Ol' Roy brand dog food and table scraps and she's lived this long and still going strong.
God Bless =)

Well, from the 2 Chihuahuas I've had the pleasure to know, between 13 to 19 years.

my mom's chihuahua lived for 21 years!!! yep...it's true...he finally got tired, laid down and closed his eyes for good...since chihuahua's are tiny dogs, they'll live a great while...the smaller the dog, the longer the life...congrats on being a good owner :)...his life is proof :) :)
