Talk to your boss about it. If that doesn't work out then consider getting another job (desperate circumstances require desperate measures, always remember that)! I think that I have an idea of where u are coming from. We had a similar situation at the office where a man didn't want to work with his son in the same department because they were always getting personal with each other. Unfortunately, 4 weeks later his son quit. Gd luck

If the effort to move into the department connected to yours is hers alone, then there's nothing you can do short of quitting and finding other employment.
If you have any say about whether your sister would even be considered for that particular position, just mention that your sister's skills should be evaluated on its own. This gets you out of the middle.

There are many different ways to handle this. You could kindly let her know that you would prefer if you didn't have anymore family members working with you OR you could completely ignore it. You could give her opportunities for a job elsewhere or just drop the subject and hope she gets the hint. However, the right thing to do is just be completely honest with her, no matter how much it hurts her.

You could tell her all the problems there are with that position she is going for... like the supervisor is a jerk, and she would get stuck doing a lot of menial stuff like filing, it would really be a lateral move, and other stuff like that. Stuff that would make her reconsider. Make sure you frame it in a way that has more impact... like the last 4 people quit pretty fast, or so-and-so said that she was sure glad to get out of there.
We're talking psychological warfare.

You can always be straight with her and tell her your feelings and why you don't want her to work there. Of course, by your doing that, you better be ready for what she has to say in response.
If you're going to say anything though, I think that saying it straight our and not beating around the bush would be best.

For whatever reason you have for not wanting your sister to work in the dept. next to yours, you really don't have any right to discourage her. Why don't you sit back and not do anything? Maybe she won't get the job afterall?

Well...you can't, really, unless you have a better reason than "not really wanting her to." She would be justified in thinking that you don't have the right to ask her to turn down a job for no good reason.
