As a pastor, I have often had people ask this same question. My answer is to stop trying to do all those things you said you are having problems doing. When we "have" to do something, it is work and work is hard but the real answer is to simply learn to love the LORD. When we love someone, we will want to do the things that please them and it is not work. It is a joy to do things we know the person we love enjoys.

Dont be so pained by your mistakes. Do you honestly think any of your actions were not known to God even before you committed them? He knows everything. And because of that, he already knew you were going to make those mistakes and forgave them before you did them.
Judging and anger and inability to forgive are personality traits. God made you body and soul. You were His from the beginning, that includes your personality. You are exactly the way God made you, he knows you have these faults and doubts and shortcomings because he made them!
We are harder judges on ourselves then God is on us. Forgive yourself and know that no matter how little you tithe or read the bible or go to church, He is in you. At home, at work, out fishing, grocery shopping. Know that as long as you keep Him in your heart always, he never leaves you.
Mathew 10: 29-31
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Jeremiah 1:4-5
The Call of Jeremiah
The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
My biggest sin was adultery. But even in that I saw God's hand in my life. I did leave the first marriage, which was a bad one, and now am blessed with a good one. God does not want us to suffer. He wants us to be healed and live in peace.
Other sins include not helping a disabled family member, giving in to despair and sloth and laziness, etc.
i hope my words comfort you and give you strength. The only thing we have to fear is the negative words we whisper to ourselves. That voice is not God's.
I hope it surprised you that I knew the bible so well and I hope this comfort doesn't seem less blessed because it comes from a pagan. I feel God in every breath, labels mean nothing because the Holy Spirit envelopes us all.

My personal belief is that God is my Father. There are lessons I need to learn from Him so that my life is better and I am a better person. With that said, you will make mistakes. Think of it as you would a mom and dad. They try to teach you things and YES you will not always do what they teach you but they still love you, they always have, and they always will. This is life, you will fall down, daily. The key is to get up and keep going. God is kind, patient, loving, loyal, more so than anyone can imagine. You do not have to be perfect to have God's love. It's ok to make mistakes. Don't get caught up in all the fluff. You also learn as you go. That's also ok. I can tell you that when I was younger I had the same feelings you did but then I went looking for answers on my own and found that it is all so much more simple than people make it out to be. God loves you, always has, always will. Give God your heart and strive to do well for Him AND for you and you will be just fine! All the best.

I’m with you, brother. I feel your pain.
I have my own sins and bad habits that I can’t seem to shake. There are days when I come so close to saying, “To heck with the whole thing. It’s obvious that I love my sins more than I love God because I keep doing them no matter how many times I try to convince myself that I’m going to stop.”
It really gets me down sometimes.
What gets me through? I’ll give you a little secret.
Prayer.
After rediscovering my faith a few years ago, I recently decided to study prayer. I wanted to know what it was and why we need it so bad. I’m a new Catholic convert so naturally I went to the catechism and the Catholic encyclopedia.
I learned, 1) that prayer is communion with God, and 2) that prayer is a battle. Number 2 really stuck with me because prayer was usually the last thing I did. Why? Too hard, other things to do, didn’t feel like, what’s the point, blah blah blah…
Prayer is an intimate encounter with God, I discovered. It’s the core of everything. It’s also a fight, against ourselves and the Tempter, Satan. That’s why it’s so hard sometimes.
For me, getting an education in prayer helped immensely along with a little common sense. I asked myself, “If I don’t need prayer, then why do I bother going to Mass? Isn’t the Mass one big prayer?”
This rediscovery has boosted my desire for intimacy with God, and has helped me tremendously in dealing with my sins. Yes, I still do them, but at the same time I can see changes happening, even if only little ones. I can even see healing taking place.
Yes, Christ’s footsteps can be painful, but how do we expect to follow them if we don’t seek strength and help from Him in the first place. Jesus carried His cross, but He also dropped it three times and had to get help carrying it. So do we need help.
Pray, my friend. Pray everyday. Not just to ask for things, but to praise God. Pray to Him with glory and honor. Pray to Him with blessing. Adore Him. Most of all, pray with humility in your heart, and with obedience.
By the way, if you haven’t studied prayer before, give it a try. You’ll learn some amazing things. I did.
God bless.

You answered your own question....we are human. We are not perfect. We are forgiven. That doesn't mean we will never sin again. Yes, it's hard to be tested. Satan is roaming about seeking whom he can destroy. Who do you think he's going to attack? Non-Christians are already on his side so why would he bother them?! He attacks Christians! He temps us even as he tempted Jesus in the desert. He preys upon our fleshly weaknesses. The Bible talks about all the trials & temptations we will face. We know they're coming. What matters is how we handle them. If we handle them well we come out stronger in the end. If we handle them poorly, hopefully we learn a lesson & don't make the same mistake again. I personally find that it's when I strive to be closer to God & learn more about Him that Satan really attacks. So now when I face my trials & I'm under attack it's a sign to me that I'm moving in the right direction & doing something RIGHT! Yes, it can be painful to be a Christian. Nobody said it would be easy. Maybe you'll find some comfort in this:
James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
God bless! Don't EVER give up!

We are saved, not perfect... The difference is we are supposed to try and not commit sins..we all do we are human. I know that I have been under an extreme spiritual attack right now and it is normal.. If you don't tithe as much as you should..well then start..God will bless that.. If you swear, then just try not to.. Judging remember only he is the one who should judge (not saying I don't think snide remarks about total strangers) . Start going to church, the fellowship will really help you in growing and understanding the word of God.. It is hard to be obedient, but the rewards are worth it...if you follow his commandments it is worth it..just keep your head up....if you are finding it painful then pray.

You identified your own problem when you wrote "do not go to church, do not read the bible". The regular reading and hearing of God's word is the key to changing your sinful lifestyle. The only thing that will save you, YOU SIMPLY WON'T DO!
Rom 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hbr 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Like most Christians, you are "a lazy Christian"! You want all the benefits of salvation but none of the responsibilities!
Problem solved!

I was baptised at the age of 46 and I still have a lot of issues that cause problems at times.. but I'm a quick repenter...
I think that people who have been Christian all their life are blessed not to have some of the baggage that I carry and will carry for the rest of my life.. even though Jesus forgives me of my sins He does not remove their memory. I remember so that I may avoid them in the future.

That is why he said "take up your cross and follow me". I know you didn't want that.
Yes, I struggle every single day with obedience, humility, charity, stability, balance and continuing conversion of life. (my vows)
There are days I don't want to get out of bed to say Lauds-selfishness.
There are times I have angry thoughts about others- Charity.
There are nights that my examination of conscience looks more like a book than a list.
And yet, I struggle onward toward that perfection that I will never gain until I am in Heaven. Why? Because I love my Lord, Jesus. He is my life, my fountain, my all.
But I am still a human with a wounded human nature...who will continue to struggle until the end.
In His Love,
j.

Um. I think my most problem is anger but I know God forgives me for it. At 1st I found it hard to stick to it but then I just prayed and thank God and just read the bible before sleep. And know that God is amazing. If you just pray and be patient your question will be answered. God Bless.

We are not perfect and we are sinful, as it stands this current system of things belong to Satan. Do I find it difficult to be obedient to God, no. It is my fear in Him that keeps me forever in constant guard in doing what I have to do to correct my ways. I am not perfect, I fall short sometimes as I am imperfect, but my faith in God does not drift away, I study His Word the Bible and try everyday living my life according to His Word. What matters isn't that we become perfect in this current system, what matters is that we have Faith and study His Word the Bible and work in correcting our ways. It becomes a battle when you are stuck between making the decissions to correct your ways, versus living your life as you so please. It is a long and difficult journey because everyday we are being tested and tempted and Satan works hard to break our integrity to God, but you must persevere and continue being faithful to God. Once you truly accept God into your life and Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and learn and apply God's Word the Bible into your life, the battles you face daily in life, will not be as hard as you see them now, because when you walk in faith, He will walk beside you and help you face the world and your daily battles and His Holy Spirit will be with you. I do not find it hard to be a christian, for I know that Christ is my Savior, so understanding this, I am only honored to follow my Lord and humble that God loved us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to die for us, so although I am not perfect I work hard to apply His Word the Bible into my life daily. Just take it one day at a time my friend, and ask for strength to deal with what you face, and His Holy Spirit will be with you through them that you won't be alone in facing the difficulty of everyday temptations.
