Yes, sometimes. However, I am not here, as you say, to convince people that there is "nothing" to believe in. I am here to stand up for myself and not allow people to think that atheists are some fringe and immoral group of humanity. I'm here. I won't be quiet or cower in the corner.
It is usually a waste of time because people have their minds made up. If someone has convinced themselves that atheists are evil, there is nothing I can do to change that.
However, occasionally someone will become a bit more accepting. A bit more forgiving. A bit more loving. That is what keeps me coming back. Not to mention, there are people here I really like, of all faiths and none at all.
Are Christians wasting their time if they are only on here trying to convert atheists, pagans, and other non-Christians? Yes, absolutely!

If I just met you somewhere in person I would never say anything to disagree with your religious beliefs or to try to convince you that you are wrong. To me that is the hight of bad manners.
However, if you wanted to engage in a religious debate with me then I feel that you have asked me to give the best and strongest arguments I can for my beliefs and against yours.
When we entered Y!A's religious section I assume that you (the global "you") did just that.

It may have some impact in certain areas but I'm basically here to kill time and I have gotten some tips on links as well as a little bit of intellectual stimulation .... you really should right off the world as meaningless without superstitious thinking . you might be surprised how the value of life can go up without the need to look forward to death as a great reward .

This forum is like a good drug to me, no matter what my mood when I first log on, I always leave laughing. The idiocy of some religious zealots really does make my day.
"After all, worst case scenario, what would we be GAINING by giving up our beliefs?"

I have eternal hope that christians and other theists may be saved and adopt rational thinking. Long ago when I was young I too use to be a christian, but thankfully I was saved from that and became a rational man.
I am here to spread the "good word" that there is still hope, no matter how bad you have sinned against reason and rational thought, you can turn your life around and we will welcome you into the flock.

"when it doesn't affect you for us TO believe"
I wouldn't be annoyed if religion didn't play such a big part in our country. Laws that oppose discrimination and encourage equal rights of homosexuals are rejected based on "moral values" culled from the Bible, of which many Americans do not recognize as absolute truth. Religion plays a large part in other aspects of government as well, including stem cell research (which intends to cure diseases and save lives), ID vs. Evolution debate (so if we can teach Creationism, why can't we teach all the other thousands of Creation stories?), abortion (we can kill Iraqis, but not embryos!), and many more, including "blue laws."
So, I care because it does affect me.

I don't do any convincing others of what and what not to believe, so I know this question isn't addressed to me. I'm here, once again, to engage in some religious discussions.

Why would an almighty God need to sacrifice his son in order to be able to forgive people for their sins?
If God is really almighty, shouldn't he be able to forgive people without killing anyone?
If God can forgive people without killing anyone, then didn't he kill his son for nothing?
If God kills people for nothing, then doesn't that prove that he is evil?
Either the entire idea of an almighty God sacrificing his son in order to forgive humanity is wrong or God is really an evil being. Why would you worship someone like that?

Why do you waste your precious tme worrying about how others choose to spend their time? feeling threatened? Are they actually causing you to question your beliefs and you are respnding from fear?
Why not just let anyone who wishes to be here, be here?
When did you become the R&S police?
