I am looking for variety and a low price with a decent taste. It is to stock a college kid's apartment. Most of the alcohol will be mixed with other things so taste is not the number one priority. Also, suggest some good drink mixes.

Vodka-(mix with fruit punch or oj)
Amaretto (mix with sour mix and 7 up)
Puckers (good with 7up or a shot added to smirnotff ice)
Rum dark or light (mix with vanilla coke)
7&7 (segrams 7 and 7 up)
Whiskey-jack and coke
tequila-shots, tequila sunrise (oj and cranberry juice) margaritas

Vodka is hella cheap and is excellent to use for jello shots (use vodka instead of water, follow the jello jigglers recipe)
or mixing with red bull or monster

Dont bother with name brands, buy the cheap amaretto vs Di Sorono, I think it tastes better. Most mixed drinks you aren't going for taste so you are covering up the quality anyway.
Save the fine alcohol when you graduate

Looks like everyone's listed the basics that you need for alcohol. Most mixers are pretty cheap (maragrita, cosmos, sweet n sour mix). I'd like to add some mixers that I always have on hand:
Limes or a big bottle of key west lime juice
Ginger Ale (is very good with everything from gin to whiskey)
Tonic
Cola
Dry Vermouth
Triple Sec/Cointreau--a must for rounding out an edgy cocktail like margaritas, cosmos
