I think it's just due to the intolerance of the thumbs-downers to ideas other than their own. I saw this on a sign recently, and I agree with it to the hilt:

"Someone who wants to explain their religious views to you is not usually interested in hearing your religious views explained to them."

I think that when I received thumbs down it was because I boldly stated a view that others strongly disagree with. Most of the time when I do that I expect at least a few thumbs down. I feel cheated when I don't get them. It shows that they read my answer.

I think most thumbs down are from people who don't agree with what is written in an answer. I think sometimes people just thumbs down people because they don't like them or they do it to everybody but mostly I think it is because they disagree.

I don't generally give great - or even good - answers, but almost always try not to be rude. And a lot of mine are from my thumbs-down stalker. They also thumbs-down people who answer my questions. So I'm gonna guess that a lot of mine are from someone who doesn't like me, and thinks that I care.

None of the above. Christians don't like to believe their version of the Bible is not the one and only absolute Bible. When there is anything that threatens that belief, like quotes from many other Bibles, they immediately thumbs down the answer not matter how truthful or factual it is.

Could be all of the above, but I think B would be the highest proportion received.

I see some here confusing opinion with the evidence that is scientifically supported and coherent.
