I agree with Tangerine, Have you been thinking of doing some sort of clearing out of unwanted unused goods but not got round to it yet?

It means you have ignored something that needed attention. Now that you are trying to move on, you can't because you never cleaned up the mess.

if i had to guess it means that your leaving thing that need to be done or fixed aside and having to deal with them later
