I think the Chinese are fairly set in their ways. They appreciate old Confucian values, and believe that the people in power are looking after their best interests. They in general have no desire to be particularly radical, they enjoy an almost hive minded, tight knitted culture.
What is the truth anyway? I'm not saying its for Chinese officials to decide what people are allowed to see, but I expect that if they did see, it wouldn't affect them that much. I think the Chinese are just happy to be Chinese.

You have got your question wrong, it should be "do the Chinese governments fear the truth?". Chinese people want the truth.

No the people don't they seek the truth, it is the government of China that is scared to death that someone will realize that life in China could be so much better than it is.
