I think there is truth in many religions, but not necessarily all religions. Some religions do appear to have just been made up to satisfy someone's greed or need for attention. I definitely do not think all religions are the same, however.
Distinguishing truth and falseness comes from a lot of things: education, experience, common sense, etc. But I also acknowledge my own limitations as a human. Just because I think something is wrong doesn't guarantee that its actually wrong, which is why, for example, I am not a Christian, but I do not think poorly of people who continue to follow it. There are plenty of Christians who also apply education, experience and common sense to their religious outlooks. They have simply come up with a different answer than myself.

You can distinguish the truth from the false by watching closely the religion (even though imperfect & make mistakes)that follows the word of truth (THE BIBLE)as close as possible & not MAN made doctrines.
To have a leader (Jesus) you have to be a follower of the same practices that he did since he is the HEAD of the Christian congregation we must follow his example since he left the model for His Christians to follow by. 1 Peter. 2:21.
The religion that does these things are truly Christians which mean being Christ like. So in any given situation as they say we must ask ourselves "WHAT WOULD JESUS DO"
and "WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO BE DOING?

Sure, there are truths in all religions. The basic moral standards of most religions are incredibly similar. I am a Christan and I have seen truthful and wise quotes from other religions and teachers. Doesn't mean I accept the religion, or am compromising my Christianity, just that the particular statement is a good one.

There are universals that weave through all religions and all descriptions of Gods and Goddesses. One of the universals is the majority of Gods claim to reign over "the Heaven and Earth," but there are none that claim by name the universe. I make this distinction, because many religions believed that the Earth was at the center of a very truncated heavens where earth was at the center and all visible lights in the sky traveled in paths around the Earth.

Yes most religions do have some element of truth in them, but that does that mean that they are all acceptable to God?let's look what Jesus says in(Matthew7:21,22)21.Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22.Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'
These verses show that not all people or relihgions are accepted by God and Jesus whom God authorised to judge us.So even if they are coherent and follow through their beliefs which most people do, yet they still do not know God's will for they do not do it.
Jesus did not teach that all religions are true and are simply roads leading to the same place of salvation, he said in (Matthew7:13,14)13"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Is he there saying that all roads lead to the same place of salvation? No, he says that there are only 2 roads one leads to destruction the other to salvation. Because the road to destruction is wide and spacious and many are on it it means that most religions are not doing what is acceptable in God's eyes not worshiping in spirit and truth(John4:24)24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."So God expect s his worshipers to worship in truth not worshiping in false doctrines and teachings that are not in the Bible things like the trinity, pagan holiday celebrationsHellfire teaching and the like, but the truth is found in God's Word the Bible and that is the criteria that true worshipers must go by, not man's ideas and doctrines. So really by his parable of the two roads, Jesus was showing that most religions are on the road to destruction and only one is on the road that leads to life, but how do you distinguish truth from falsity? That is not that hard really a person with a humble heart will look to God's Word the Bible for the truth with prayerful supplication to God for his help in finding the truth and the right road that he wants all of us to be on.God knows if a person really wants to know his truth and if a person sincerely does want to know his truth and asks him for help he/she will get this help and find the real truth.

I do think that most religions have an element of truth to them. I decide what I beleive by what feels right to me. I completely trust my 'inner voice' -- that 'gut feeling' you get about things. I don't fully beleive all of any one religion's beleifs, but bits and peices of many religions I feel are true so I trust in that.

Yes, there is truth in All religions. And yes they are different. The way each person believes is the right way and the truth for them. Please remember that the way you believe is no better or worse way other peoples believes!

If it has the word "religion" in it ....it is man-made and therefore, we all know how good man is with "truth"....so pretty much your question is moot.
