I am 17, and I just feel tired. I started being a veggie 7 months ago. I ate A LOT of meat in the first place, so it was a drastic change. I've noticed my hair coming out more easily, and I just feel less energized. I know it was unwise to not talk about this to a doctor. I was anemic as a child 12 ish years old. Is it possible I could be now?

It is possible that you are anemic now.

If I were you, I would go see my doctor right away. It sounds like this could be an extremely serious matter. Do not take this lightly.

I also became a vegetarian at your age (that was 20 years ago) and I didn't really eat enough protein at first. It is easy to get enough protein as a vegetarian... esp. if you are a lacto-ovo vegetarian where you consume dairy and eggs.

Here is a link to a vegan site that gives a menu to make sure you're getting enough protein. If you also consume dairy and eggs it'll be even easier.

Good luck... sounds like you're a thinker and not a follower of the masses. Keep it up! It's a great lifestyle.

the problem is that vegetable protein is INFERIOR egg and milk however has the highest biological value of all proteins. you should also get a good whey protein supplement, on optimum nutrition is about the best on the market. Twinlab makes good protein also.

i was vegetarian for one year - i was 16 at the time - messed up my metabolism completely and i gained a lot of weight.
you need to make sure you get enough calories (find daily calorie intake calculator on the net) and definitely get enough protein - the advised amount is at least 0.5g per every pound of your body weight (e.g. if you are 140lbs get at least 70g protein a day)
