Sounds like it did exactly what it was supposed to do.
Airbags are deployed by explosive air expansion, and they then quickly deflate to ensure that they don't get in the way of you getting out of the vehicle.
Edited to respond to your new additional comments:
Airbags DO hurt, that's the nature of the beast, but they SAVE LIVES. Would you rather have your face and chest slapped by the deploying airbag material, or would you rather slam into the steering wheel/dashboard/windshield? To me, it's a no-brainer.
You are claiming that you "know" that the bag was faulty due to the deployment process taking not even as long as a second. Well, thank God (and Toyota) for that, because it should take no longer than approximately 0.2seconds from triggering and all the way through to deflation. If it took a second, then you would have been plastered all over the front of your car. Happily, all worked as it should and you are still here today.
You also stated that you wished that you didn't have the airbag, but i'm sure you'd then be on here asking if you could sue Toyota for not including one in the first place....assuming you were still physically able to post online of course.
You don't know the value of an airbag until it saves your life.
You're just looking for a target to hit, and this "can I sue.....?" reaction of yours is sadly seen far too often nowadays.
Sorry if I seem harsh, but that's the reality of it.

Just because "doctor said air bag caused more injuries than if i didnt have one at all" does not mean "it was defective." A non-defective airbag will sometimes do this, depending on the speed of the vehicle, the size of the person, whether they are wearing a seatbelt, and various other factors. Airbags are supposed to keep you alive in accidents that would otherwise kill you, without killing you in accidents that would otherwise not kill you. They may increase or decrease the number of minor injuries in a non-fatal crash.

No. It's been tried a million times. By the way, just HOW do you think an airbag deploys? Sodium azide is used as an EXPLOSIVE to propel the bag in a crash.
P.S. -- you don't KNOW it was defective, doofus. Are you an automotive engineer? I have inspected thousands of vehicles with deployed SRS's. You crashed, the bag deployed. It met the prameters of it's design. Give it a rest already.

That depends. Did you follow the requirements of the manufacturer? Manufacturer requires Airbags get inspected at the 10 year mark, and every 2 years afterwards.
Airbags aren't a lifetime item and must be inspected and replaced if they are found bad.

an air bag is supposed to deflate itself after it deploys, like within 3 seconds.
it is possible to much gas was in your system and caused it to explode. Yes you can try to sue, but you'd have to first find out if this is normal for the camry or not.
But on the flip side.. yes it exploded.. but you're alive to tell about it. I'd be thankful of that and write toyota a very nasty letter and not buy their cars again.

the air bag is supposed to inflate for only a small part of second then release all the air in them (explode) right after that in order to allow you to contnue driving if needed and also not to trap you in your place after the accident or smother you
